White Kitchen with Island and White Marble Countertops
Choose elegant finishes and accessories to maximize style on islands in compact kitchens. This smaller kitchen, designed by Donna Mathis of Haven Design Works, proves that you can still have pizzaz on a petite island. A compact island saves money on finer finishes like marble countertops; plus you can add style by picking visually interesting bar stools with details like the nailhead trim shown here.
Two light fixtures hang above a large white kitchen island. A combination of wood and white cabinetry complements the white marble countertop on the kitchen island, creating an elegant contemporary look.
A crisp white palette, chrome accents and marble surfaces elevate the design of the contemporary-style kitchen at HGTV Urban Oasis 2012. To maximize space and storage options, the unit's standard kitchen was blown out and cabinetry installed to ceiling height.
Gold Calacatta marble wraps a six-foot island in the 2012 HGTV Urban Oasis. All-white cabinetry is installed floor-to-ceiling to maximize the kitchen footprint. To modernize traditional styling, linear handles and frosted-glass fronts are used.
Contrast is key in this bright white kitchen. A white marble countertop on the kitchen island contrasts the black countertops elsewhere in the room. White barstools stand out against the black-painted island base.
White Contemporary Kitchen With Chunky Marble Island
The central double-sided island topped with striated, chunky back-beveled marble brings the wow factor to this kitchen. Modern white pendant lights hang above the island, illuminating the space. Walnut cabinetry adds warmth to the otherwise clean, cool kitchen.
White Traditional Kitchen with Large Marble Island
White cabinets and white marble countertops create a clean, crisp look in this traditional kitchen. Custom touches are spread throughout the space, such as the furniture-style finishes on the island and cabinetry and the large stainless steel hood suspended over the cooktop.
HGTV Design Star contestant Karl Sponholtz designed this kitchen addition, including the custom cabinetry and paneling. "I wanted to give the traditional Georgian architecture a modern aesthetic — dreamy!," he says. The spacious white kitchen combines the best of both worlds with traditional, craftsman style cabinets and sleek marble counter tops and island. The over sized, but elegant, chandelier accentuates a tray ceiling while recessed lights help to fill every inch of this space with light. A large, black table set against wall-to-wall windows not only provides the perfect meeting place to enjoy breakfast but also a bold contrast for the space.
Transitional White Kitchen With Marble-Topped Island
The dark wood floors in this transitional kitchen provide a perfect contrast to the white cabinetry and dove-gray walls. Barstools from Pottery Barn can easily be tucked under the center island to make extra room for busy cooks.
