Black-and-White Dining Room With Coffered Ceilings
With coffered ceilings, gold-studded wallpaper and a sputnik light fixture, this dining room is at once sophisticated and hip. A long wood table and eight chairs ensure that there's plenty of elbow room for family and friends.
Transitional Black-and-White Kitchen is Functional, Stylish
Sleek black cabinets with simple pulls mix with speckled gray-and-white countertops for a chic townhouse kitchen. The peninsula adds extra prep space, as well as an area where barstools pull up for dining.
This remodeled 1950s kitchen features transitional style, from the black-and-white geometric tile backsplash behind the range hood and cooktop to the elegant marble kitchen island with seating for three. The space also has room for a hidden wine fridge tucked beneath the island.
White cabinets paired with black countertops and farmhouse sink surround this chef's kitchen, while the large island has the opposite effect with black cabinets and chic white countertops. Contemporary pendant lights hang above the island illuminating the workspace, which also functions as a casual dining spot with comfortable barstools.
Rich black, enameled cabinetry with accents of Peruvian walnut are the dramatic cornerstone of the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 kitchen. The sophisticated look is completed with brushed and polished metal hardware, white stone counters and geometric glass tiles, while a custom quartz crystal-encrusted ceiling cove crowns the space.
Transitional White and Black Kitchen with Pops of Blue and Archway
Take your pick, or do all of these things in one weekend. Add comfort and style to plain metal or wooden bar stools by crafting cushions, like these in a beachy blue. Then, attach them using double-sided Velcro, says Atlanta designer Robin LaMonte. For the island top, she purchased a wood trough at a discount home store and filled it with decorative balls from a craft store. You also could wrap styrofoam balls in assorted textiles, securing the fabric with a glue gun.
Black and White Master Bathroom With Custom Medicine Cabinets
In a master bath designed for a couple, JamesThomas Design created a space with rich architectural detailing and a simple black-and-white color scheme. Above the his-and-hers vanity, the design team fixed mirrors in frames with a mirrored medicine cabinet between the two mirrors.
Transitional Black and White Home Office With Pearlized Tile Wall
A renovation transformed an unused nook into a full-service home office for a talented writer. A mother-of-pearl wall treatment flanked by crystal sconces evokes the elegance seen throughout the rest of the home. The curved lines of the desk chair and albino cowhide rug assure the space as functional as it is chic.
Bistro-Inspired Kitchen is Welcoming, Sophisticated
A sleek black kitchen faucet makes a stark contrast against the clean white quartz countertops in this bistro-inspired kitchen. White subway tile set with dark grout creates an elegant display in the upper glass cabinets, while clean-lined gray cabinets below add a touch of contemporary.
Framed antique mirrors line the wall and encourage movement through this dark and light contrasted living room. The mirrors give the room a graphic punch, and the black piping on the cream sofas follows suit. The damask wallpaper and patchwork cowhide rug add texture to the space.
