Built in Bottle Storage and Display With Vintage Corkscrew Collection in Wood Wine Closet
An assortment of bottle storage shelves gives a pleasing look to this wine closet. A vintage corkscrew display is a simple and fitting way to decorate the space. The warm wood is balanced by cool toned countertop and stone floor tiles.
An open locker system keeps jackets, baskets and other essentials handy in this mudroom. Chalkboard labels identify each locker, while drawers and baskets provide convenient, hidden storage for each family member.
This homeowner longed for a laundry area but didn't have space to remodel an existing room. To the rescue: designer Giana Shorthouse of Terracotta Properties, who teamed up with a local cabinetmaker to create a custom kitchen laundry and storage room. Stackable appliances sit next to a closet that has pullout drawers as well as room to iron. Metal mesh door fronts allow moisture out and air to circulate, yet blend seamlessly with the look of the cabinetry.
A built-in hall tree in the mudroom of this newly built farmhouse features a low bench with cubbies perfect for storing boot trays lined with shoes. Simple coat hooks line the paneled wall, while a high shelf provides space for display or additional storage. The crisp white palette is punctuated by soft gray trim that updates and distinguishes the architecture.
Wine Cellar With Wooden Bottle Racks, Wrought Iron Wall Art and Wood Wine Boxes for Decor
A decorative wrought iron piece is mounted to the wall of this wine cellar complimenting the iron chairs tucked against the wall. Natural wood wine boxes placed in the room add fitting and simple decor to highlight the theme. Built in bottle storage built from floor to ceiling maximizes the available space.
Having virtually no natural light to work with is one of the biggest design challenges when creating a basement bathroom. Add dramatic elements with texture that make the space feel less like a basement or more like a spa-like bathroom.
Traditional Laundry Room Design With Dark Wood Cabinets and Stacked Washer and Dryer
Cherry-stained cocoa cabinets create a gorgeous traditional style in this laundry room space and provide lots of storage from floor to ceiling. A stacked washing machine and dryer maximize available floor space in the small room.
When designing a mudroom, think of how your children will use the space. Jeffrey S. Brown, president of J.S. Brown & Co., says, "Most parents tell us their children do better with open areas because they are more likely to hang their coat on a hook than to open a closet door and pull down a hanger." In this situation, low-hanging hooks are the best option. Kids can easily hang their bags and coats on rows of hooks and kick off their shoes below. Designer Sarah Richardson's walk-through mudroom is the perfect example of a low-maintenance entry with kids in mind.
The second-floor walkway opens up to the traditional wine room below. Warm wood paneling and molding surround the space, while an L-shaped bar with barrel armchairs are the perfect place to grab a drink.
Basement Hall With Natural Rock Arch Doorway, Beige Walls and White Molding Over Hardwood Floor
A natural rock structure frames an arch door and window for a fun, textural, castle-like effect in this basement hall. The rock finish is highlighted by the smooth beige walls surrounding it. Hardwood floors and white molding finish the traditional look.
