Contemporary Bedroom Retreat Serves as Live-Work Space
A large laundry area and plenty of built-in storage form a uniquely functional space in this blue contemporary master retreat. The homeowner wanted a space to work as well as a space to relax. The design team accomplished both goals by creating this multifunctional suite that connects to the master bedroom.
White, Contemporary Laundry Room with Patterned Floor
Ample cabinet and countertop space provide maximum function in this clean-lined contemporary laundry room, while patterned tile adds interest underfoot. A large picture window brings in loads of natural light.
A contemporary sliding barn door leads to a contemporary laundry room with a colorful tile floor and accent wall. Lit artwork provides an extra touch of whimsy in an already colorful and whimsical space. The overall contemporary home in Connecticut features loads of fun touches that speak to the family's playful personality.
This year interior designer Linda Woodrum went against the grain of mundane laundry rooms and enlivened the space with a sleek stainless steel accent wall and vibrant local artwork. “When you come up to the top of the stairs we have this amazing subway tile and we hung a cool piece of art on it and it’s just really beautiful with the shiny tile and the art,” says interior designer Linda Woodrum.
Natural light floods this cheery laundry room. Seaglass blue cabinets and matching pendant lights are happy and refreshing. A sink and counterspace are always appreciated in the laundry area and this room has plenty. Rolling carts, hanging space for drying, lower storage for laundry bins that go to each room (so they aren’t crowding the floor!) and a massive upper cabinet for linen storage are thoughtful touches that will certainly make laundry less of a chore.
Contemporary Laundry Room With Checkerboard Flooring
This spacious, transitional laundry room offers plenty of room for functional and stylish design ideas to form. Designer Traci Zeller adds drama to the room through a black-and-white color scheme and checkerboard tiled flooring. Glass decanters serve as attractive storage containers for detergent, clothespins and other laundry essentials.
With merely an inch to spare, this laundry room was re-framed twice to accommodate every inch needed for the washer and dryer to stay slim and compact. With no room for a door, the family decided the gain was well worth the view, and with the mom of the house being a successful home organizer, the bet was safe that it would indeed be gorgeous & organized to look at, even when in full use. The ceiling was raised higher and skylights were added to create maximum use of this space.
