This vibrant blue and purple garden of perennials and annuals in Newport, Rhode Island, is framed by a classic Italianate pergola and a backdrop of evergreens, earning it an ASLA 2018 Honor Award. Trees in container line the walkway along the pools connected by a channel to a sitting area. The project is designed by Reed Hilderbrand Landscape Architecture.
The garden at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 leads to a final vignette, designed by Kate Webster and Thayer Hopkins, to inspire and encourage reflection. A brick path draws the eye toward the abstract, mirrored sculpture that reflects light and creates the illusion that the pillars are also decorated with the flowers.
