White Spanish Home Comes With Mediterranean Courtyard
This Spanish-style kitchen courtyard forms an arresting study in contrasts. Terra-cotta-toned concrete pavers and red barrel roof tiles appear richer against pristine white walls, which in turn look luminous against the dark door and window casings.
Outside this gorgeous Italian-style mansion is a cobblestone pathway and driveway leading to several structures. Multiple gardens border the home, including one comprised of white flowers and vines climbing up a beautiful arbor.

Finding the right glass waterline tile for fountain and spa was difficult since we wanted it to be complementary to the antique brick and terra cotta paving colors, but the Bamboo Blend (Weave Series from Walker Zanger) provide the right balance of color, while also providing enough of a highlight.
To preserve a native oak tree, the Torrey Pines Landscape Company renovated the central courtyard to lessen water usage and create a background tapestry of plants appropriate to its microclimate. A Cameron flagstone patio seating area was carved out to connect to the original stone fireplace anchored to the home elevating the warmth of this outdoor living room.

In the courtyard gallery garden at the 2016 San Francisco Decorator Showcase, landscape designer Megan Van Linda pays homage to the Venice Biennale, the biennial, internationally acclaimed exhibition of contemporary art in Italy. A custom mural by San Francisco artist The Apexer and a modern lounger add contemporary flair to the Italianate architecture of the home.
