Backyard Overlooks San Francisco Bay, Silicon Valley
Set on a hillside overlooking the San Francisco Bay and Silicon Valley, this once mundane site was full of potential when the Kikuchi + Kankel Design Group arrived. After remodeling the pool area and adding rows of flowers, the homeowner and landscape architects then completed the space with an ultra-chic sculpture.
Stunning though it may be, this outdoor space also faces unique maintenance challenges, like caring for the lawn joints between the stone pavers. To keep the yard flawless, the landscape architects carefully trim around the concrete and so create a pristine pathway.
In the summer, a wall of Boston Ivy climbs the side of the garage, making for an eye-catching visual that the owners can enjoy right in their backyard. While structural architecture is constant, landscape features such as this have the ability to grow and adapt over the years.
Okay, how awesome is this? Thanks to it's custom cube design, this modern fire pit houses a water feature on one side and a TV on the other. Meanwhile, three plush armchairs ensure that everyone is nice and comfortable.
With the help of Mission Pools, the pool was remodeled and refinished with a dark blue lining. A separate raised spa area completes the space, and allows the owners to enjoy views of the ocean while they're relaxing.
