Bright Modern Bathroom With Woodgrain Armoire Cabinet and Glass Shower With Accent Tile Column
Glass shower walls keep this bathroom feeling spacious and bright. Small blue, gray and white tile decorate a support beam in the shower for a decorative effect. Black marble countertop on the vanity is echoed by the sponged look of the gray shower wall. A tall wood cabinet creates concealed storage space.
Modern Open Plan Dining Room With Cascading Light Fixture
The beautiful, open look of this modern home provides a smooth transition from dining room to living room. Tibetan Water Carrying Vessels Repurposed as Pendant Lights in California Kitchen
A trio of Tibetan water carrying vessels are repurposed as pendant lights in this inviting kitchen in Sonoma County, Calif. The lights complement the exposed Douglas fir ceiling beams and the sweeping views of wine country, while the porcelain island countertops and modern dining chairs provide a juxtaposition to the natural elements in the space.
Neutral, Modern Parlor for More Intimate Entertaining Space
The homeowners wanted a parlor for more intimate entertaining, so designers created a warm, inviting space to meet their needs. To keep the space bright and light, designers took advantage of the tropical sunlight. A wall of windows to the right of the space lets in plenty of light that can be controlled by sheer curtains. For additional light, two slender windows line the textured fireplace surround, which adds dimension to the space. To help make the space warm and inviting, designers had wood paneled ceilings installed and brought in a beautiful baby grand piano and modern, wood chairs to complement the rich, wood floors that run throughout the house.
The living room uses texture to make the space rich with depth and visual interest. There's a freestanding wine storage wall (hello, form and function!), a copper fireplace, leather furnishings and stone walls.
You’ve heard the old chestnut, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” When working with a space that has awkward or unusual lines, designers often have to make the best of the situation — and truly talented pros turn the oddity into a design feature that looks absolutely intentional. When designing the kitchen for a home with corners dramatically out of square, Kerr Construction embraced that architectural quirk and emphasized it with the design of the kitchen island. “The unusual shape of the island matches the corners on that side of the home, and the recessed ceiling above the counter,” they say.
Upstairs Hallway With Dark Hardwood Flooring and Modern Wood Chair Overlooking Bold, Colorful Wall Art
A large, bright chandelier features long, decorative streams hanging over the double story foyer visible from the upstairs hallway. Dark hardwood flooring, cable stair walls and modern wood chair create a simple and sharp design for the hall. Bold all art draws the eye and pops in the light of the bright foyer.
Because this living room features a predominantly neutral palette, the shape of the furniture and the textures are more important. A round end table is a nice counterpoint to the boxy sofas and the armchairs offer up crisp angles and lines.
