Neutral Open-Plan Kitchen and Dining Room with Natural Light
Never be isolated from your dinner guests in this open-plan dining room and kitchen, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows for plenty of natural light. Dark hardwoods offset white upholstered chairs, light gray walls with white crown molding, and light marble countertops.
In a living room where space is at a premium, there may not be enough tabletop surface to add framed photos or treasured objects. To inject personality into a living room without taking up valuable tabletop space, consider a gallery wall grouping. Here, a tall wall features nine oversized black-and-white prints of the family with a steel console placed below to anchor the space. When adding a console table to a living room, stick with a maximum depth of 18 inches to keep from impeding traffic flow.
Symmetrical furnishings and a neutral color palette give this traditional living room a simple, clean feel. Great use of texture in the rug, coffee table and stone fireplace create visual depth and make the large space feel intimate.
A zebra print rug gives this tasteful sitting room an unexpected exotic touch. Layering a small rug on top of a larger, neutral one can be a good way to bring in an exciting texture or pattern without overwhelming the space.
Heirloom Painting with Console and Chair in Elegant Neutral Living Room
In this corner of the living room hangs a piece of art that holds special significance for the family. Although not a particularly famous piece, the work has been in this family for three generations. Designers replaced the frame and mat with ones that would complement the colors of the artwork more. They then added a console and chair to ground the piece without taking away from it. The fresh flowers on the console help to make the colors of the painting pop.
No TV allowed in this family room! The clients' main desire was to enjoy the company of friends and family without having to talk over an entertainment system. Custom built-in cabinets with mirrored backsplashes reflect light around the room, while the cabinet doors added interest on either side of the brick fireplace. Super comfy and kid-friendly fabrics were used on the furniture for a worry-free entertaining space.
Red Living Room With Leather Chair & Wallpaper-Lined Shelves
It’s not hard to imagine Sherlock Holmes sitting, deep in thought, in this cozy living room, with its red walls and wallpaper-lined built-ins, traditional fireplace, antique Oriental rug, and oh-so-comfortable vintage leather armchair.
This living room evokes a romantic, feminine quality with flowing draperies that pool on the ground, curved furniture, a weathered fireplace mantel and gold accents. A creamy white color palette adds to the softness and elegance of the space.
Traditional Dining Room with Chandelier and Coffered Ceiling
White coffered ceilings in this formal dining room enhance the traditional feeling of the space. Using a neutral pattern on the chairs in the same tone as the wall color adds variety without making the space feel busy. A large chandelier and decorative window treatments bring a sense of elegance to the calm, neutral space.
