Scandinavian Blue Dining Room With Rattan Pendants
This beautiful dining room uses color and texture to create a warm, stylish space. Sleek elements like the black dining chairs go wonderfully well with the layered textures, from the rattan pendants to the rustic wood table.
A stone fireplace is accented by a rustic wood mantel and hammered gold vases. The living space opens up to a cozy bar area, complete with warm brown cabinets, barstools and cool, contemporary pendant lights.

Brian made it feel part of the living space by extending the wallpaper into the nook, then arranging a low-slung banquette and small ottomans around a generous table. He kept the corner from feeling too cluttered by opting for a transparent table base to keep the footprint light. It’s the perfect spot for extra dinner guests, catching up on emails or game nights with friends from the neighborhood.
The homeowners outfitted the space with a super comfortable low-profile sectional so multiple guests can curl up with a good book or watch a movie on days when it’s too cold to go exploring. The sofa is also deep enough to serve as an extra guest bed, in a pinch. Plenty of blankets are provided and a vintage trunk serves as a coffee table – ideal for storing luggage. Nordic décor isn’t just beautiful, it’s often useful and flexible.
A spidery, three-armed pendant connects with the modern spindle legs of Eames-style dining chairs in this chic, modern dining room. The clean-lined space features an eclectic collection of artwork and accessories. Broad windows bring in loads of natural light.
White, Contemporary Media Room with Colorful Furnishings
Colorful modern furnishings pop against the all-white palette in this upstairs living space. White draperies draw for privacy and to the shield the space from natural light for TV watching. A traditional rug grounds the space and gives dimension to the sitting area, while also giving the room a collected, eclectic vibe.
Blue and green accents are a colorful extension of the living area's natural palette. The colors are used in other rooms as well and pair so prettily with the shiplap paneling and white oak beams. High ceilings help the space feel huge.
A screened-in porch was enclosed to create this wonderfully cozy reading nook and play room. To keep the project budget friendly, designers used board and batten walls, rough-sawn faux beams and simple, built-in shelving.
Photographer Robert Petersen’s photo of an Icelandic Horse was the perfect jumping off point for inspiration. Crisp whites, muted blues and pale wood tones give the room a natural, dreamy vibe. With wood itself a high-priced commodity in Iceland, Brian opted for a stunning faux-bois wallpaper to complete the look.
