Multi-Functional Family Living Room
This multi-functional space perfectly fits the family perfectly. A comfy, gray sectional, upholstered ottoman and playful striped slipper chair create the TV viewing area, while brass étagères flank a coordinating TV console house metallic woven baskets that act as toy storage for the kiddos. Finally, a cream lacquered and brass desk was placed against the back of the chaise sectional where the homeowners can catch up on work while their kids watch a movie or play within eyesight.
White and silver are the luxurious palette for this large living room. A coffered ceiling gives the room depth. On the sofa, silver velvet pillows are a posh pairing with the room's other metallic details like the starburst mirror.
This earth-toned living room pairs together a blue sofa with a range of brown and neutral hues, including the metallic brown curtains that frame the bay window. Dark brown wooden end tables are positioned throughout the space, adding a modern touch.
A yellow vintage chair with a matching ottoman is provides a strong contrast against a pink and white rug with a graphic pattern in this eclectic room. Decorative brass flowers echo the metallic, floral pattern wallpaper.
A dark gray accent wall and industrial metal storage cabinet give this modern living room a cool touch, while natural light keeps the space bright. A neutral sofa sits in front of a black coffee table while a fun throw pillow adds a touch of color.
Josh took this Design Star challenge head on when he created this gray and metallic bold living room mockup. A pop of color comes in the two shiny modern red chairs, and plenty of personality comes through in the accents, including shiny Fido.
"Don't be afraid to mix the metals" says designer Michel Boyd who uses gold and silver together in his space. Metallics, says Boyd, work for him like a pop of color. "That reflective surface is the pop of color," says Boyd.
Traditional architectural elements abound in this classy and classic dining room, from the wainscoting to the wide door casings to the intricate coffered ceiling. A square dining table and on-trend grasscloth wallpaper update the space while keeping with the home's traditional design.
