This fireplace extends the dining room and provides a reading nook on the opposite side. The minimalist Caesarstone slab surround accentuates the linear flame to create a dramatic effect without overpowering the space.
Silk curtains dress up windows throughout the house. Here, in the living room, the windows are arched, a graceful detail that goes well with the delicate color story of cream, gray, blue, pink and gold.
The goal of this project was to modernize the open plan living space, but in a thoughtful way that would respect the location and also provide the client, a young single bachelor, with a functional design. The narrow living room space was one of the biggest challenges in the space planning. By creating a wall hung entertainment unit and bookcase, with a large area rug and small cocktail tables, the narrow space was visually widened.
Renovated Contemporary Living Room with Bright, Neutral Color Palette
Before the mother-daughter duo of HGTV's show Good Bones renovated this living room, the space was dark and outdated. To create a more open feel, Karen and Mina removed the dated wood paneling and gave the walls a lighter color palette. Then then added contemporary furniture to complete this chic, elegant space.
Brian Patrick Flynn designed this cozy sitting area with brick fireplace, modern furniture and vibrant patterned, gray-and-white wallpaper. The purple accent pillows add a fun pop of color and texture.

Large floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors seamlessly blend the indoors and out, making this contemporary modular home a true part of its natural surroundings. A low, gray sectional and ottoman is paired with a sleek lounge chair and shag area rug for a chic, comfortable living area.
This clean, contemporary living room is dreamy and ethereal, with a shimmering Nepalese carpet that pulls in hints of the deep teal color of the vintage Milo Baughman chairs. Soft gray draperies blend with the wall color, visually expanding the space.
This family room was designed for maximum comfort and entertainment. A large built-in entertainment center houses the tv and includes open and hidden storage. When it's time to play, the walls disappear for instant backyard access.
Multiple patterns are beautifully coordinated across this seating area –– from the geometric rug and ottomans to the chevron pillows and ikat chairs. The sleek, transitional lines of the furniture help execute the pattern-heavy design.
