Whimsical Living Room in Expansive Auckland Estate
With its sculptural sofas and striking black chandelier, the living room of this Auckland, New Zealand, home strikes a balance between formality and whimsy. The four-story mansion, designed by renowned architect Greg Noble, incorporates materials sourced from around the world, from China to Italy to India.
This contemporary living room mixes subtle patterns in a neutral color scheme to create depth without overwhelming the space. Detail on the iron stair rail and a patterned bench, area rug and throw pillows all come together to add interest and diversity to the stylish room.
Rustic wood floors and a textured white area rug ground this minimalist modern living space. Black-and-white abstract art is bold, adding a visual landing point behind the comfortable, white sofa. A side table with gold top adds a glam, metallic element to the space.
Gray and White Contemporary Living Room With Pendant
Clean white walls and a ceiling are the perfect blank canvas for this living room's different patterns and textures. Wavy lines, bold black stripes and curving shapes add a sense of movement to the space.
Chocolate brown leather couches ground this bright white living room. A wall of sliding glass doors offers unobstructed views of the ocean. Breezy white curtains keep with the light, airy feel of this space.
Bright Living Room With Contemporary Open Staircase, Small Wood Piano and Dark Flooring
An open wall staircase gives an open look to this living room design. White walls and stairs keep the room bright and allow the green was to pop as an accent color. The dark floor creates a pleasing contrast to the white walls and grounds the design. Throw pillows on the sofa compliment the accent wall to finish the look.
Pink Sofa, Green Chairs Pop in Contemporary Living Room
A fresh coat of paint works wonders on this historic home, instantly brightening the 1870s interior and making it look more modern. Using the white walls as a canvas, the designers then introduced splashes of color via the bright red art in the foyer and a pink sofa, green chairs and blue area rug in the living room.
A navy blue accent wall behind the fireplace makes this living room feel both intimate and dramatic. The strong color is carried out into the space via artwork and other accessories. And despite the furnishings' high-end look, fabrics and rugs are surprisingly kid friendly.
This warm, earthy living room features comfortable upholstery and layered materials creating an inviting, stylish space. Bookcases around the fireplace were custom-built to house the family's book and object collection.
Three bright yellow panels, each depicting a flowering plant, are evenly spaced on a white wall in a living room that is made up of mostly white and yellow accent pieces. A white sofa is paired with a yellow chair and a white shelving unit complete the brilliant look.
