This room is all about the view, but in this small beach cottage, every inch counts. Designers decided to go with an extra long sectional (for the sitting space) and a fun hanging chair in the corner. The rest of the floor plan was kept open so that people can be sitting at the many turquoise stools at the island as well as the living space without additional furniture in between. A fun assortment of various sized tables is an uncluttered look.
Open Floor Plan Dining Living Kitchen with Modern Coastal Aesthetic
This open plan design allows for maximum square footage for people and entertaining. Spaces were planned to take advantage of the windows and water views. The spaces share an open ceiling space clad with shiplap, adding to the coastal vibe. Tech Lighting was added across the space with many heads so that at night, light can be tossed up to the ceiling to keep the room from feeling cavernous.
This Delaware beach home pulls out all the stops, from sliding French doors leading to an outdoor waterfront balcony to sleek ebony built-ins. With a transitional aesthetic in mind, the coastal elements are only integrated through the yellow-green and turquoise accents, the small seashell accessories and the seagrass arm chairs. Design by Bruce Palmer; construction by Dewson Construction Company; architecture by Bernardon Haber Holloway; photography by John Jenkins.
To help connect the beach cottage's interior with its waterfront location, designers incorporated organic textures and sea-inspired colors. New windows and skylights fill the rooms with natural light that bounces off the reflective surfaces.

White Living Room With Soaring Ceilings and Coastal Decor
Sea-blue glass accents and throw pillows in Floridian prints add a coastal feel to the living room of HGTV Smart Home 2013 in Jacksonville, Fla. At the crest of the soaring cathedral ceiling, an aerodynamically inspired ceiling fan crafted with industrial-grade components serves as an interesting focal point overhead.
Coastal Living Room with Arched Windows and Blue Accents
A large green rug covers most of the hardwood flooring in this coastal-themed living room, which has a bay of arched windows, two wicker armchairs, sofa with blue pillows, and a fabric coffee table. Eight cut-out shelves on a long white wall add an interesting architectural detail that reflects the large window.
Coastal Living Room With Window Seat and Striped Armchairs
These striped wingback armchairs prove that a living room doesn't need a sofa in order to provide comfortable seating for family and guests. The chairs' soft green and cream tones are echoed in the window seat's upholstery, and the built-in display shelves feature accessories and found items in the same soothing pastel palette.
With such high ceilings, the goal of designer Anna Williams was to introduce a dramatic piece of art that would be the focal point of the living space. The commissioned painting by local artist Sue Tilley perfectly incorporates the serene coastal feeling with washed out shades of aqua. A rustic black coffee table grounds the space and contrasts with the warm timber floors.
Coastal Living Room With Seashell-Wallpaper Accent Wall
The eye is drawn to an indented panel in the wall covered with black-and-white seashell-patterned wallpaper. A circular mirror adds a brightening effect over the wallpaper that matches the sunny, bright look of the white room. Patterned pink and blue throw pillows decorate the light blue sectional curved around a brass coffee table.
