Eclectic Library Features Metallic Poufs, Unusual Table
A love of color and a collection of Suzani blankets inspired the palette and design of this eclectic library. A pair of classic wing chairs is perfectly sited to take advantage of lakeside views. Two shimmering garden stools sub as ottomans to bring in a bit of bling.
Library With Built-In Wood Shelves and White Books
Designer Geoffrey De Sousa envisioned the Library at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 being used by an iPad-centric homeowner, whose reading materials are stored in the cloud. The white painted books, which were hand painted by Geoffrey and his team, giving this library a unique look.
Elements of this entrance mimic features inside the library for a cohesive look. Sconces framing the doorway resemble the dramatic pendant light over the fireplace. The doorframe's stain color matches the tray ceiling stain in the library.
A collection of Suzani blankets inspired the palette and design of this eclectic library. Colorful pillows top an imported bench from Bali, and streamlined built-ins connect the space with the modern lines of the architecture. A collection of crosses forms a valance of sorts above the windows.
A library by Dutch-born designer Martin Kobus was inspired by the use of an original Rembrandt. His firm installed crisp white plaster work on the ceilings in between the beams and on the upper walls, then stained the wood paneling a rich dark espresso.
Antique Furniture Meets Boho Accents in Eclectic Library
Located just off the hall, this eclectic library boasts an impressive floor-to-ceiling bookshelf that's perfect for storing books and displaying prized possessions. Beneath a single pendant light, an antique sofa and armchair are adorned with bohemian accents, giving the room a collected feeling.
This vibrant library perfectly demonstrates how a basic space can be transformed with color and just-right accessories. A blue velvet armchair is a stately presence on one side of the room and pulls out the rich array of colors tucked into the bookshelf.
White walls and bold, dark gray trim makes this library niche pop! The hardwood floors, cowhide rug and 1970's bench play off each other in an eclectic harmony. Bold artwork, a potted olive tree and the midcentury bar make this niche the perfect vignette.
Colorful, Eclectic Home Library Offers Comfy Seating
Two walls of built-ins rise to the peaked ceiling of this contemporary, third-story library. Chairs are sited to make the most of the room's lakefront views. A collection of Suzani blankets inspired the room's design and color palette.
Library Features Gold Ceiling & Blood Orange Chairs
The metallic ceiling in this magnificent home library was inspired by a Parisian hotel where the family once vacationed. The ceiling subtly adds bold texture to the space — it's eye-catching but just out of sightline, so it doesn't overwhelm the design. Blood orange chairs and artwork bring vibrant color to the room.
Bright Blue Library Pairs Tufted Sofa, Zebra-Print Rug
Turning right off the foyer leads guests into the owners' personal library. Wanting this space to feel carefully curated -- as though all the odds and ends were collected from travels abroad -- the designers combined a tufted sofa, traditional side table, floral armchair and a zebra-print rug. Walls painted bright blue help showcase the traditional wainscoting.
