HGTV Dream Home 2012 Great Room With Stone Walls
Designed to resemble an old stone structure, this great room stands as the home's hub with wings radiating out like spokes. Armchairs upholstered in a black and white check pattern define the conversation area and are flanked by two neutral sofas for contrast.
The owners of this traditional, coastal home requested a lounge-style dining area with views to the ocean. The designers took advantage of the open concept floor plan to arrange the furniture into a focal point, drawing the eye from the entry straight through the dining space to the sweeping vista beyond. The entire back of the house opens up to a full sun deck, allowing for panoramic views of the beach.
Renovated Basement Great Room With Exposed Beam Ceiling
This spacious basement great room features traditional furniture, include a brown suede sofa and neutral striped armchair and ottoman. The exposed beam filing completes the look of the space, while the nearby fitness room and bar provide additional areas for entertainment.
Traditional Great Room with Coastal Feel, Strong Focal Point
The wide open living spaces in this coastal home are designed to emphasize, first and foremost, the view. Neutral walls and broad windows spotlight the sweeping coastal vista. Meanwhile the arrangement of the dining room, with its eye-catching captain's chair, forms a visual line upon entry that draws the eye through the center of the room and to the windows beyond.
Great Hall Entry With Sheer Curtains & Eagle Bookstand
This great hall is divided from the entry by thin veils of sheer linen panels for more intimacy while leaving the historic home's original architecture intact. A gilded nineteenth-century eagle bookstand greets visitors on the washed-oak center table.
Drama and warmth combine in this impressive Old World residence encompassing a total of 14,496 square feet. The double-height great room features a coquina coral fireplace flanked by double sets of French doors that open to the waterfront loggia and pool patio.
An elegant dining room with a carved wood table and statement-making aged bronzed and crystal chandelier opens up to a cozy seating area in front of a fireplace. The elegant black and gold painted console on the right is an ideal solution for media storage.
Mortis-and-tenon timber trusses, stabilized with stainless steel collar ties, visually lower the vaulted ceiling and transform an otherwise voluminous space into a cozy escape. As if aged and weathered by the elements, timbers, washed in a finish of water and gray paint, play up the room's invented farmhouse history.
Spacious Great Room With Stone Tile Floor and Multiple Glass Doors
This spacious great room features neutral stone tile flooring, a large dining table with wicker dining chairs, dual fireplaces, plush white furniture, and five glass French doors leading to the pool area outside.
Bird's Eye View of Traditional Great Room With Stone Fireplace
A mix of seating—armchairs, side chairs, a blue sofa—wraps around this great room's large stone fireplace, tied together by a neutral rug. Tall French doors all along the outer wall let lots of natural light into the room.
An archway opens into the great room, where a neutral sofa and several chairs provide seating for visitors. The brick fireplace was repurposed from the Old Logan school and serves as the room's focal point.
