The formal dining room receives an abundance of natural light from the transom windows above. Herringbone-patterned wood flooring is reclaimed barn wood from a local barn, while a long, sleek glass table pairs with comfortable leather chairs. Oversized abstract artwork brings bright color to the room.
The black and white base of this home's palette serves as a springboard for imaginative layering of bright colors and bold patterns. Here, a tiny nook over the kitchen becomes a vibrant home office with tropical green wallpaper.
The dining room is brimming with drama thanks to lacquered walls and exposed beams. Powder blue Louis XVI chairs soften the strong personality of the jet black walls, while an art deco pendant and sideboard mirror help bounce light around the room.
With a brilliant use of wall decals, HGTV fan naildinny created a stunning focal point in her classy dining room. Thirteen-inch wall pops — repeated over and over — are definitely an interesting dinnertime backdrop.
Black and White Transitional Dining Room With Gray Curtains
This elegant formal dining room is a study in contrasts: white paneling on one side of the room, a black built-in cabinet on the other. Gray velvet curtains split the difference along the back windows and help to unify the look.
Black-and-White Dining Room Mixes Classic and Modern
The prior design of the space was traditional, but the homeowners wanted to incorporate a modern look. Classic architectural details, like the bright white coffered ceiling and sophisticated moldings, pair with contemporary elements, from the dangling chandelier to the graphic-patterned wallpaper. Hammered black chairs combine with a long rectangular table, perfect for entertaining or family dinners.
Dining Room Features Black-and-White Canvas Mural by Street Artist
With an interest in street art, designer Cecilie Starin turned to surfer and muralist Ian Ross, whose designs are inspired by kelp, for the eye-catching wallcovering in "Street Soiree," the dining room at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2015. Ross spray painted 17 yards of canvas for the wallcovering, which is complemented by black lacquered paint and a black-and-white striped ceiling.
The distressed leather club chairs pair with a glam bar cart that lead into the kitchen and breakfast room. Black-and-white peel-and-stick tiles make a contrasting statement for the floor, while brass chairs surround the contemporary white table. A gallery wall of art fills the space from floor to ceiling.
