The owners of this California contemporary home chose to keep the galley kitchen because it fit the character of the house. The design team removed a partition between the kitchen and laundry to open up the space and included a mix of walnut and white cabinets to keep the vibe funky and young. As a cost-saving and time-saving feature, the cabinets use Ikea boxes with semi-handmade fronts. A colorful rug pops in the neutral space.
