Timeless Cottage Kitchen From Sarah Sees Potential
As seen on season 1 of Sarah Sees Potential, designer Sarah Richardson transformed this once dark and cramped kitchen into a bright, contemporary space that fits the needs of a growing family of three. New stainless steel appliances and pops of light turquoise and green paint give the cozy white kitchen a contemporary, timeless look.
The new owners of this five year-old single-family home in the Ukrainian Village area of Chicago sought a more expansive, casual and contemporary feel. Being a professional chef, the husband found the existing kitchen stifling and wanted to infuse it with light, efficiency and room to move.
By eliminating the wall separating the kitchen and the living room, the design allows natural light to flow in. The sleek new finishes and lighting in the kitchen, along with the modern cabinetry, stovetop and hood, achieve a more contemporary feel. The bold transformation creates an expansive new space that is easy and bright, inviting a chef to casually create and family and friends to join in the fun.
Contemporary Open Plan Kitchen With Corner Fireplace
A chic corner fireplace makes the transition between this open plan kitchen and the adjacent living space feel seamless. The kitchen features a mixture of frosted glass and bamboo cabinetry for a contemporary look.
Recessing cabinetry and appliances into the walls of this kitchen spares as much square footage as possible for the overscale two-level island. Classic Euro Style Sallie stools at the lower tier keep kids out of the way while adults chop and stir at the upper counter.
To update the cottage for its new owners, the design team opened the kitchen and outfitted the space with a large island. Glass pendant lights illuminate the space overhead, while four wood barstools give the family room to share a meal together.
Traditional upholstery on the barstools complements the smoky gray of the pendant lights above the island in this streamlined, contemporary kitchen. Glass-fronted cabinetry showcases dishware that is also awash in white, continuing the room's clean, airy vibe. A slatted wood ceiling adds a touch of rusticity.
A redesign by Showcase Kitchens united dining room and kitchen into one 530-square-foot family-friendly space. The refrigerator and double oven were built into the cabinetry, giving the room a seamless look. An oversized, L-shaped island features the kitchen sink. A decorative tray ceiling with recessed lighting completes the look.
Gray and White Contemporary Open Plan Kitchen and Dining Area
Whip up a culinary masterpiece then enjoy it in ultimate style in this stunning open plan contemporary kitchen and dining area. Sleek red dining chairs give a jolt of vibrant energy to the gray and white palette.
Backlighting plays a crucial role in modernizing classic elements of this open floor plan kitchen. It's used in the quartz countertops and backsplash, as well as above the stainless steel range hood to highlight traditional moldings.
This high-rise San Francisco condo features a contemporary white open plan kitchen with bright orange barstools, an accent color carried through by two armchairs in the adjacent seating area. A large sea anemone ceiling light nods to the panoramic bay views.
