Lucie Ayres' client asked to have a pantry, laundry room AND a desk in a small nook of the kitchen. She made it happen mainly by opening the walls between the former laundry room and kitchen and by installing space-saving retractable doors.
Influenced by English cottage design, this galley kitchen emphasizes the quaint and soft details of the style. Powder blue cabinetry, bronzed drawer pulls and crisp white countertops are charming details in the small space.

Spacious Transitional Galley Kitchen With Warm Mahogany Flooring
The perimeter cabinets in this lovely transitional kitchen use oyster finished maple with lots of detail and an amaretto glaze, creating a nice contrast with the mahogany flooring. The magnificent stone countertops blend all the colors in the room together.
Navy and White Transitional Kitchen With Stainless Steel Refrigerator
Navy blue is a smartly sophisticated choice for the cabinets in this transitional kitchen, complementing the rich wood finishes of the hardwood floor and countertop. A beige-and-white chevron striped blind adds a fun graphic touch at the window.
Galley Kitchen With Gray & White Checkerboard Floor
Cool gray countertops and a breakfast bar flank the existing checkerboard floor in this galley kitchen. The small space feels large with a light color scheme grounded by a navy blue wall, as seen on HGTV's Brother Vs. Brother.
The neutral color palette needed a bit of personality, so designers peppered the space with blue details such as the barstools and double ovens. For a little more fun, a blue, retro refrigerator was added, bringing out the blue hues in the neutral granite countertop.
Because this galley kitchen is smaller in scale, it was important to utilize every square inch. Thus, designer Lucie Ayres tucked her clients' washer and dryer behind some custom cabinets and gave them drawers for a little pantry area as well.
Shades of gray and white are used throughout the Brother Vs. Brother kitchen in the cabinets, countertops, backsplash and checkered flooring. A accent wall of navy blue brings a burst of color to the space.
In this galley kitchen, the colors from the bold wallpaper are repeated in the green wall paint and blue Ann Saks tile backsplash. The pattern's drama is balanced by sleek white Ikea cabinets, countertops and stainless steel hardware. Large copper pendants add warmth to the space and complement the room's jewel tones.
