Eclectic Kitchen With Mosaic Backsplash and Breakfast Nook
Designer Meg Caswell uses a color palette of soft orange, dark brown and turquoise for a welcoming, earthy kitchen design. The fun palette continues into the breakfast nook, which features turquoise banquette seating and a beaded chandelier.
Because this galley kitchen is smaller in scale, it was important to utilize every square inch. Thus, designer Lucie Ayres tucked her clients' washer and dryer behind some custom cabinets and gave them drawers for a little pantry area as well.
Shades of gray and white are used throughout the Brother Vs. Brother kitchen in the cabinets, countertops, backsplash and checkered flooring. A accent wall of navy blue brings a burst of color to the space.
Lucie Ayres' client asked to have a pantry, laundry room AND a desk in a small nook of the kitchen. She made it happen mainly by opening the walls between the former laundry room and kitchen and by installing space-saving retractable doors.
Textured teal walls blend seamlessly with the teal tile backsplash, creating a beautiful palette for pops of red and gold. The gold undertones in the wood cabinetry, door and window frames complement the ornate gold pendant lights hanging above the island. Slim red barstools provide a small dining area at the sleek wood island.
It may be by far the most common kitchen island shape, but the rectangle isn’t your only option. Angled and even curved designs can work better in your space, like this stunning oval designed by Anthony Baratta. The oblong island, which mirrors the shape of the recessed ceiling, is a custom design built in English sycamore wood, with a Pyrolave countertop in a custom lime color and reverse-painted glass door panels.
Eclectic Blue Kitchen with Peacock-Feather Ceiling Mural
A peacock design painted on the ceiling is the scene stealer in this kitchen created in an eclectic style. Multicolored tile is made to look like bricks on the floor and a long kitchen island provides seating and extra counter and sink space.
The L-shaped banquette in this bright kitchen with aqua cabinets creates a dining area with plenty of seating, perfect for entertaining even in a smaller home. A kitchen island on wheels helps to increase counter space then easily moves out of the way when not in use. Patterned window treatments frame the large window which brings in plenty of natural light.
