Kitchen and Dining Room Open to the Outside through Large Sliding Glass Doors
Here's a feature few can boast -- a kitchen/dining room that essentially opens up completely to the outdoors! Just inside the mammoth sliding glass doors, you can see an expansive kitchen island and cozy dining table. Glass windows extend far above the doors, allowing maximum light and creating a reinforced sense of openness.
Five chunky barstools line the kitchen island to provide an eat-in space in addition to prep space. Bold yellow countertops, a blue waterfall countertop on the island and bright red pendant lights bring splashes of primary color to the palette.
Natural wood tones mix with black-and-white accents in this sleek, modern kitchen. Guests can enjoy a meal from the expansive, dark-toned kitchen island in wooden chairs, and enjoy the view from double windows flanking a stainless steel gas range.
The overall vision for this home's spaces was modern farmhouse, so designers chose a beautiful oak hardwood floor to run throughout the main areas of the house. Then, they brought in a lot of white and marble, helping to make the spaces feel timeless and classic. Finally, warmth was added to the home through gold and black accents and wood details that really brought the rustic farmhouse feel to life.
The kitchen was gutted with the goal of creating the essence of a modern bistro-inspired space. Two-toned, custom inset cabinetry and a clean Caesar-Stone countertop pair for a sleek look. A tongue-and-groove wood feature wall behind the kitchen sink adds a cottage touch to the space, while industrial barstools pull up for casual dining.
Blue Cabinets, Marble Backsplash Complement Kitchen Island
To make the kitchen look cohesive, designer Caitlin Murray matched the bold, black marble backsplash to the island. The cabinets coordinate with the island's blue base as well, further tying the room together.
A large island offers plenty of space in this clean and modern kitchen. The white cabinets and silestone countertop elegantly contrast with the oak floors and the island's wood paneling while keeping the space light and airy. The gray tile wall adds graphic interest and effortlessly pairs with stainless appliances.

Streamlined cabinetry and sleek, modern style create a chic and elegant design for this kitchen. A warm wood dining table pairs with eight mod white chairs for casual yet stylish dining. White tiled flooring connects to the other spaces of the home, creating both flow and cohesiveness.
Built-in benches and a small table make this space perfect for quick, informal meals or evening homework. Natural light from two large windows eliminates the need for a bulky light fixture. The benches are topped by vivid chevron-patterned cushions, which add a nice dash of color to the neutral space.
This modern kitchen takes the waterfall countertop concept one step further, by turning it from a countertop into a table. Paired with midcentury modern dining chairs, this solution makes for a truly unique eat-in kitchen.
This kitchen in tones of gray, white, and mint green has a distinctive modern look. Minimalist cabinets offer plenty of storage and the small dinette with upholstered gray seating and contemporary white dining table provides a place to enjoy a light meal or cup of tea. The distinctive lighting fixtures contribute to the modern look. An elegant white flower arrangement in blue vase adds color while the white subway tile backsplash adds visual interest. A separate kitchen island with white counter and matching dark wood adds both style and function.
