Open, Contemporary Kitchen and Dining Room
John and Anthony, from America's Most Desperate Kitchen, took a small, outdated kitchen and opened it into the living room to create an open, contemporary space that is perfect for cooking, dining and entertaining.
The kitchen was reconfigured to be open and light, with pale wood floors and dark-framed windows that highlight the views. Behind the range, a graphic pattern nods to the global influences used throughout the home.
Elegant, Contemporary Kitchen With Light Cabinetry and Industrial Chandelier
An elegant and contemporary look is created in this kitchen with the use of light wood cabinetry, neutral colored walls and sleek white countertops. A glass-enclosed industrial-style chandelier adds to the elegance.
Taking full advantage of the open floor plan, a semi-circular island anchors this eat-in kitchen with a tiered breakfast bar. The textured finish on the bar is a visual treat, alongside the mosaic tile backsplash above the pale wood cabinetry.
The home is located in Newport Beach, California, so it was also important for it to have a coastal, classic feel. Touches like the beautiful white Bertazzoni range do this with the added benefit of delighting any resident chefs!
The new owners of this five year-old single-family home in the Ukrainian Village area of Chicago sought a more expansive, casual and contemporary feel. Being a professional chef, the husband found the existing kitchen stifling and wanted to infuse it with light, efficiency and room to move.
By eliminating the wall separating the kitchen and the living room, the design allows natural light to flow in. The sleek new finishes and lighting in the kitchen, along with the modern cabinetry, stovetop and hood, achieve a more contemporary feel. The bold transformation creates an expansive new space that is easy and bright, inviting a chef to casually create and family and friends to join in the fun.
Bright Contemporary Kitchen With Monochromatic Color Scheme Accented With an Orange Floor Rug
The deep orange coloring of the floor rug catches the eye in this bright, white kitchen. Sharp modern lines create intrigue in the design highlighted by natural sunlight coming in from the uncovered windows. A trio of teardrop pendant lines are lined above the large island. A cool, modern canvas finishes the space with fitting decor.
Two inspired pendants and a rug with candy colors are the bright stuff for this open plan kitchen. Open shelving over the sink gets a neutral backdrop, all the better for showing off a fun collection of houseplants and ceramics.
Contemporary Open Plan Kitchen With Corner Fireplace
A chic corner fireplace makes the transition between this open plan kitchen and the adjacent living space feel seamless. The kitchen features a mixture of frosted glass and bamboo cabinetry for a contemporary look.
Ceiling Beams add architectural interest and coordinate with the darkly stained lower cabinets. Having two light fixtures over the island gives the space a sense of scale and the tile backsplash and colorful rug add character and a touch of personality. Gray bar chairs provide seating for the kitchen island and a nifty display shelf provides storage/display options.
Bright, Neutral Contemporary Kitchen with Elegant Light Fixture
Designers at America's Most Desperate Kitchens created a light, bright, contemporary kitchen in this home's space. The neutral color palette and extensive use of white creates a space that reflects the natural light of the outdoors, while the section of brown cabinetry warms the space, making it more inviting. To help keep the space bright on cloudy days and at night, designers added a modern light fixture above the kitchen island, illuminating the space and bringing it together.
