French Country Master Suite With Tufted Headboard
With a tall, tufted headboard, satin linens and an upholstered bench, this French country master suite looks effortlessly elegant. During the day, floor-to-ceiling windows fill the space with light, but at night, it's the chandelier that shines.
The chandelier actually works overtime in this master bedroom, both brightening the space and calling attention to the reclaimed wood ceiling. Meanwhile, a sliding barn door creates a seamless transition to the bathroom.
During the winter months, the owners can easily swap their lightweight linens for heavy pillows and knitted blankets. When paired with the reclaimed wood ceiling, these details make the space feel especially cozy.
Neutral French Country Living Room with Whitewashed Fireplace Surround
The real show piece in the new living room is the newly designed but old-world inspired fireplace. The surround was built out using vintage bricks and covered in white mortar for a whitewashed and textured finish that makes it look as if it had been there for generations.
Painted pottery sits on yellow shelves in this Tuscan kitchen by designer Linda Adams. Natural light streams through the window, and potted plants and a bowl of oranges dot the counters. Blue and yellow tiles and a tiled backsplash are partnered with yellow and blue cabinets to give this cozy kitchen an Old World feel.
A fabulous La Cornue blue stove is the star of this gorgeous French country kitchen. A beautiful tin stove hood, reclaimed wooden ceiling beams, and an island with massive wood columns complete the look.
A luxurious sweep of lavender flanks this very French hillside garden designed by Shellene Mueller. Stone boulders echo the rose- and vine-draped pillars above. French gardens "celebrate the senses," Shellene says. "You're visually stimulated, you're smelling lavender and thyme, there's interesting texture — all the senses are stimulated."
The long passage leading from the foyer to the dining room is broken up with a built-in bench that provides extra seating for large dinner parties. The button-tufted cushion is topped with plump damask pillows that complement the pearly wallpaper.
Stone floors help ground the open-as-can-be mood of this sitting area. Paired with casual details like the slipcovered chairs and natural fiber rug, they create an overall feel that's laid-back and so welcoming.
Out the door and in a few short steps, owners of this French-inspired home can take a dip in a lovely swimming pool of a straightforward design. Mark Scott and Associates' landscaping in this exterior area draws focus to the back of the home's structure by placing a scattering of simple and shrubbery and grasses next to the pool and patio. The result frames the picture of this home's perfection.
This chic living room combines the best of relaxed French country style with sophisticated Parisian panache. A trumeau mirror, properly placed between the room's two windows, visually expands the space and reflects the adjacent dining room while a pair of linen-covered bergeres defines the seating area.
French Country-Inspired Kitchen With Grand Skylight
This French country-inspired kitchen boasts plenty of natural light with large beautiful windows and a skylight. The cream colored cabinetry paired with a tiered chandelier gives an elegant sophisitication to the space. In addition, the stone wall and distressed wood island add to the French country feel.
