Dark walls and floors contrast with a white platform bed in this eclectic bedroom. The modular bed incorporates a small end table with just enough room for a classic desk lamp. A ruched bedspread and bohemian rug soften the look.
Eclectic Taupe Nursery with Orange Accents, Painted Ceiling
This nursery is full of energy from touches of orange against a neutral taupe backdrop to layered patterns and child-friendly greenery. The addition of a painted zigzag pattern to the ceiling gives the baby something stimulating to look at while lying down in the crib.
The location of the dining room works well with the rest of the home’s modern floor plan. “I like that it’s just steps away from the butler’s pantry that leads straight to the kitchen,” says project manager Scott Branscom.
When spending money on the design for nurseries and/or children's rooms, it's okay to splurge on pieces that have longevity. The splurge in this nursery was the leather-upholstered glider, which is durable enough to last and stylish enough to potentially work in a different room.
Bold Orange and Gray Boys' Bedroom With Rustic Reclaimed Wood Wall
This eclectic boys bedroom features two twin beds positioned against a rustic reclaimed wood paneled wall. Orange and gray bed linens dress the beds, while black and whir zebra print pillows add a fun touch. A framed insect print and glass sconce hangs above each of the beds.
Just a few inches from the glider is a stowed-away Murphy bed. Originally, its exterior was covered in a red-toned wood laminate, something too adult and too formal for a nursery. By updating it with custom vinyl wallcovering in the same palette as the room's decor, it now fits in perfectly, blending in with the other design elements.
The bedroom is all about the mix. The mix of fresh patterns and colorful textiles create a cozy, comfortable and beautiful place to sit back and relax. A headboard was installed using left-over yardage from a project. The close-knit chevron pattern creates an unexpected headboard for the bed. The black and white pattern is a complement to the black and white knit pillow that Kelley likes to cozy up on. At the foot of the bed, Kelley Carter has incorporated a textile from her travels: fabric from the Philippines that adds a vibrant display to the bed. The patterned textile is filled with meaning, a reflection of Kelley’s own Filipino heritage.
Unique arched windows provide transparency and privacy between rooms in this eclectic living space. Round furniture elements work with the circular ceiling architecture, and a large window provides ample natural light.
Metal bookshelves, wood paneling and a cowhide rug are just a few details that make this home office feel masculine. A unique desk pairs with a midcentury modern chair and two red leather armchairs with metal frames. Vintage car prints and cool gray wall paint finish off the stellar design.
Eclectic Family Room Boasts Tall Ceiling & Imported Gems
A mix of antiques and imported gems from around the world brings a sense of modern eclecticism to this living room. A tremendously high ceiling boasts a distressed look that matches the fireplace surround.
A custom blue and white woven rug grounds this eclectic living room. The influence of outside gardens is brought indoors with the bluish gray walls, and pink patterned chairs add a playful pop of color to the space.
A trio of shiny gold pendant lights illuminates the island, which features a wooden countertop and prep sink. Simple white cabinets with no pulls and a shimmery chevron backsplash complete the eclectic look.
After giving the original materials a good cleaning, Nicole painted the walls a dark violet shade to match the masculine elements in the rest of the house. Light accessories contrast against the walls.
