Open Concept Living Space With Exposed Beam Vaulted Ceilings
This renovation included completely re-fashioning the living space. The center section of the ceiling was raised and multiple spaces were newly laid out. A wall was removed to open the new living area into the all-new kitchen, which had formerly been a master bath and closet.
Combining the best of country living with the casualness of contemporary, the designer used analogous colors to combine the look. Graphic-patterned draperies pop against the dark grass cloth wallpaper while they merge with the cream-colored adjacent wall. The room suggests comfort, simplicity and an invitation to rest.
By cutting the center of the cabinet door fronts out with a jigsaw, painting the back panel fire engine red, then inserting chicken wire as decorative detail, the designer added both extra storage space and a high-energy focal point in this bathroom. Chalkboard-painted walls provide a perfect way to leave notes for guests.
