Barn Wood Covered Bar Provides Seating in Farmhouse Kitchen
Separating the kitchen and living room spaces, a small bar adds casual seating and provides a place to house the stove. Covering this bar is antique barn wood that has been repurposed to create a rustic, farmhouse look in this updated kitchen. As seen on America's Most Desperate Kitchens.
To create a fun, livable room, designers added a durable, leather sofa that would be easy to clean. Then, they added Peter Dunham pillows and a Crate and Barrel coffee table to complete the space and add color and texture.
White walls, wood floors and exposed beams are the neutral framework for this living room's simple, organic look. Built-in shelving beside the tv shows off pottery and beach treasures. Doors allow easy outdoor access on both sides of the room.
This lively powder room takes cues from Asian design with a multicolor decorative vanity and all-over brown wall tiles. A bronze globe light hangs overhead and features a cutout design, allowing the light to diffuse in interesting patterns. Charcoal tiles line the floor.
Asian Dining Room With Long, Dark Wood Dining Table
A large neutral area rug and neutral walls create the backdrop for this Asian dining room. Glass cases display traditional Asian attire, providing beautiful and unique wall decor. Two dark wooden buffets surround the white fireplace and echo the dark coloring of the long dining table. Low-back chairs rest under a large, rectangular light fixture.
A glass chandelier provides a fun finishing touch in this eclectic, colorful guest bedroom. Asian-inspired patterns adorn the custom upholstered headboard and an antique armchair. A folding screen complements the colors in the fabric and brightens an otherwise dark corner.

Charcoal Accent Wall in Midcentury Modern Living Room
Before Brio Interior Designs reengineered this space, the living room was cluttered and simple. Now, however, a charcoal accent wall gives the space dimension, while colorful, patterned accents add personality to the space. To alleviate the closed in feeling of the original home, designers opened up the wall between the living room, making the room feel large and open.
Upholstered Closet Doors Add a Touch of High Design
To add a touch of high design, simple ready-made bifold closet doors were given an update with fabric and batting. For a not-too-overwhelming pattern, a transitional geometric with shades of charcoal, beige and brown was used.
Rustic Outdoor Space with Stone Walkway through Native Plants, Perennials and Annuals
A stone walkway leads to the pool and hot tub, pool house, outdoor kitchen and dining areas. The landscape designer created an abundance of planting beds and used mostly native plants and some specialty perennials and annuals.
The pool terrace in southern Vermont is nestled into a hillside below the main house and offers a view of mountains receding into the distance. The terrace unites the pool, hot tub, pool house, outdoor kitchen and dining areas, fire pit and abundant planting beds.
