Spare But Restful
There’s something very serene about an uncluttered bedroom. The Nordic design ethos puts a lot of significance on the beauty of an un-fussy space. This quaint bedroom with twin beds is a perfect example with its thick, inviting blankets and accessories you can count on one hand. It’s just enough to feel “lived in” but spare enough to keep your mind quiet and primed for a great night’s sleep.
On episode seven of HGTV Design Star season six, contestant Kellie was asked to transform this boy's bedroom with a locker room theme in mind. Though she didn't do the locker room theme, Kellie tucks bits of soccer-themed pieces throughout the room. Still, judge John Gidding isn't impressed: "There's nothing locker room in this whole space," he says.
The niche between the two bookshelves is the perfect spot for the crib; in later years, a headboard will tuck neatly up against the wall. The gold polka dots on the back wall are brought out by the spherical gold pendants in the center of the room.
An antique chandelier over the library table doubles as a light fixture and a focal point. It helps bring light into the room while also taking the attention off the low ceilings and onto the beautiful outside view.
Keep a bedroom feeling restful but still stylish by opting for a metallic color scheme. Here, gold accents luxe up the silvery gray walls and rug. White furniture and window dressings are the crisp final touch.
Master Bedroom Features Herringbone Textured Accent Wall
Shades of gray and white create a calm and stylish look in this master bedroom. A herringbone accent wall brings texture to the design behind a gray upholstered headboard and layered throw pillows. Two stone-based lamps add a unique touch, and light from the window and French doors creates a natural brightness.
Neutral-Palette Nursery With Black Iron Vintage-Style Crib
Everything about this serene neutral nursery promises happy days and restful nights for both mother and baby, from the vintage-inspired iron crib and the lamb print and rocker to the comfy chair and pouf and the soft, furry rug on the floor.
Modern Reading Corner Pairs Gray Chair, Geometric Table
To increase the bedroom's functionality, the designers introduced a modern black floor lamp, a gray chair with a gold base and a cool, geometric end table. Together, these pieces create a chic reading corner.
