Painted clouds and city streets provide a fun and playful backdrop for this kid's bedroom. The contemporary bunk bed includes a fireman pole and slide for exciting exits from the top bunk. A hanging globe chair creates a comfortable swing above the blue and green checked rug, and an airplane light fixture is the perfect touch to complete the space.
Built-in bunk beds in light-colored wood keep up to four kids cozy while also maintaining an open, bright feel in the bedroom. A pinecone-shaped pendant light is a pretty and whimsical nod to the home's mountain setting.
The clients, 10-year-old twins, helped designer Alisha Gwen create the fun shape of this custom, blue velvet-clad headboard. In the space, the girls’ favorite hues of blue and purple inspired the palette. Layered patterns and fun furnishings mix to form a tranquil bedroom with equal parts whimsy, function and style.
For this kid's bedroom, designers strived for a look that was whimsical, but also sophisticated enough to grow along with its owner. Complementary colors blue and orange combine warm and cool tones for a balanced feel.
Space-Themed Kids' Bedroom Shines With Rocket Light
Playing off the space travel theme, designer Naomi Alon installed a pendant light that looks a lot like a rocket! Not only does this piece brighten the bedroom, but it also totally complements the astronaut-printed duvet below.
For older children and even adults, a loft bed is a great way to leave floor space open. It takes advantage of otherwise unused space and makes it possible to add a desk or a seating area in a small room that would have been otherwise overwhelmed by a large bed.
Contemporary Boys' Bedroom With Two-Toned Wall Treatment
This two-toned wall treatment gives the room an elevated look that will easily grow with its young residents. For now, though, it makes a fun backdrop for lions, tigers and other animal friends, as well as a daybed and matching ottoman.
Twin Bed With Upholstered Navy Headboard and Striped Comforter in Boy's Bedroom With Bright Orange Accent Wall
A bold orange accent wall creates a bright backdrop for the navy details in this boy's bedroom design. Thick navy and white stripes on the comforter match the striped curtains and upholstered navy headboard with small nailhead trim. Orange pillows and upholstered cube stools tie the accent wall into the design.
Contemporary Blue Kids' Bedroom With Space Travel Theme
This bedroom was designed for a spunky 6-year-old with big dreams of walking on the moon one day! To prepare him for the adventures ahead, Little Crown Interiors outfitted the space with pieces that encourage creativity and critical thinking, like a custom "snake" bookcase, bubble chair and a colorful rug that doubles as a puzzle.
Space-Themed Kids' Room With Astronaut Duvet Cover
The final touch for this space-themed kids' room was a life-sized astronaut printed on the duvet and a helmet on the pillowcase. Every night as the kiddo goes to sleep, he gets to pretend he’s an astronaut heading into space!
Even the kids room offers breathtaking views of the Chicago city skyline. Designed for two boys, a contemporary, gray wood bunk bed adds functionality to the small space, and a stylish blue and white chevron rug grounds the room. A pair of bean bags provides a quaint area for reading and relaxing.
A smocked orange coverlet is used to cover a memo board displayed at the entry to the kids bedroom in the HGTV Dream Home 2010. Custom crafted by carpenter David Brown, the board is decorated with Toy Story ephemera and western toys.
Instead of covering all the walls in blue, designers instead selected accent areas: the ceiling, a strip above the desk, an alcove by the window. It's a stylish way to bring in color, but also keep a lighter, snappier feel.
Yellow hanging lights and bed linens pop against bright blue walls in this contemporary kid's room. In the corner, multicolored chairs surround a small white table perfect for arts and crafts or tea parties.
