Brick Tudor Style Home Exterior with Gray Trim
Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines opened the porch back up, bringing back a more classic and elegant look to the exterior. Though they opted to keep the original brick and not paint the exterior, new stucco and contrasting gray trim highlight the home's traditional Tudor style.
Even the most conservative space (and this isn’t one of them) can be beautifully enlivened with cool art and global details like this incredible mantle décor of primitive wooden figures mixed with a rustic wooden mantle and exposed beams on the home’s global-mix loggia.
Take the architectural route to your fire pit area with sculptural furniture, minimal decor and a contemporary chiminea. To create a focal point and ground the space, opt for a tall chiminea standing at least five feet.
A high-pitched roof gives a family starry views from the outdoor porch of a rustic lake home in Georgia. Builder Mike Hammersmith came up with the double-sided fireplace with steel pocket doors that slide behind it. On nice days, the pocket doors can open and connect the living room with the porch.
After soaking up some sun on the deck, the owners and their kids can cool off in the pool. A blue tiled accent wall with three water fountains makes the space feel even more refreshing.

Using black as an accent color on the exterior helps draw attention to architectural details like windows, doors, and trim, and, as the team at Awad + Koontz Architects Builders notes, “gives a modern touch to a traditional home.”
Shaded Double Lounge Chairs, Covered Hammocks and Plant Perimeter Around Pool Deck
Stone tiles create a patchwork deck surrounding the swimming pool. Trees and plants circle the area creating privacy and adding natural color. Lavish seating options include double lounge chairs shaded under the trees and covered white hammocks hanging next to the water.
Just outside the large French doors of the master bedroom, a small offset of the patio awaits. Here, a deck area provides intimate seating, offering a private area for the homeowners. Since it is connected to the larger patio area, though, the space could serve as an extension to the outdoor entertaining space, allowing the homeowners more room to enjoy family and friends.
With a corrugated metal roof and large cutouts, this outdoor lounge offers shelter from the afternoon sun and encourages cool breezes. Throw pillows and an area rug in soft, neutral hues help showcase the subtle texture of the structure itself: the brushed concrete, the beams radiating from the built-in fireplace and the unique pattern of the tile flooring.
Taking advantage of the California weather, a covered porch is the ultimate entertaining space. An outdoor kitchen, complete with grill and smoker, makes cooking outdoors a breeze, while a long, contemporary table is perfect for dining al fresco.
An ivy-covered wall, pavers with grass joints and trees all around help this outdoor space feel at peace with the landscape. In the center, a sunken swimming pool invites the owners to slow down and soak up the beauty of their surroundings.
Wanting a space where they could enjoy lunch with the kids and host dinner parties in the evening, the homeowners asked the Barbour Spangle Design to transform their plain patio into a versatile eating area. Thus, a rustic wood table with six chairs centers the space, with a light gray floor to protect bare feet on sunny days.
