Master Bedroom Sitting Area With Fireplace and Large Windows
This sitting area, part of the home's master bedroom, features a glass-front fireplace beneath a large mirror. The space also includes several large windows for ample natural light as well as a great view of the outdoors. A sofa, two chairs and a cream-colored coffee table provide a great spot for comfortable conversation.
The homeowners outfitted the space with a super comfortable low-profile sectional so multiple guests can curl up with a good book or watch a movie on days when it’s too cold to go exploring. The sofa is also deep enough to serve as an extra guest bed, in a pinch. Plenty of blankets are provided and a vintage trunk serves as a coffee table – ideal for storing luggage. Nordic décor isn’t just beautiful, it’s often useful and flexible.
Painted wood paneling warms up the small open plan kitchen that opens onto this cheerful seating area. A high ceiling and clerestory windows add to the room's airy mood; red chairs and a sofa wake up the palette with bold pops of color.
This townhouse was newly built, so although it had tasteful architecture, it needed personality. The designer divided the open plan bottom floor into three distinct areas: a kitchen in the back half and seating and dining areas in the front. The serene gray and white palette has a hint of urban chic.
Great Room Sitting Area With Arched Windows and Large Art
This sitting area is part of an expansive great room that features arched windows, light-brown hardwood flooring, a white coffered ceiling and a large abstract painting. The sitting area includes a glass coffee table, a white sofa, two modern gray chairs and a gray area rug with geometric design.
White Kitchen Sitting Area With Panel-Glass Windows
One end of this light-filled white kitchen, which shares a wall of panel-glass windows with the adjacent dining room, has been transformed into a cozy sitting area furnished with a lovely antique loveseat.
The large, geometric coffee table feels fresh and provides ample space for Scandinavian-inspired accents including candles, books and a carved horse from a local Minneapolis shop. Layering a mix of accents in natural tones with black and white creates texture and movement in the seating area while still maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
