“We have a very large back patio, and we have a seating area there and a large dining area with an umbrella,” says HGTV Dream Home 2015 designer Linda Woodrum. “It’s just a very peaceful, private outside space that’s comfortable, inviting and another place to live.”
The HGTV Dream Home 2015 front entrance features a covered portico with two classic columns. “Because of New England weather, you don’t want to be standing out at your front door as the rain comes down,” says interior designer Linda Woodrum.
The designers were very careful to pay close attention to Cape Cod style and details when choosing every aspect of HGTV Dream Home 2015’s front yard. Rather than a paved driveway, a traditional pea-gravel drive adds to the home’s New England style.
This attractive home features a remodeled backyard area complete with a stone deck, pool and covered porch. The materials blend with the home's siding, and furnishings are simply designed for a stylish look outdoors.
Built in 2007, the shingle style Cape Cod was designed by American architect Robert A.M. Stern. The home’s silhouette is characterized by two haystack gables, a tower at the west end and several beachstone chimneys. Wide covered porches wrap around the exterior of the magnificent home with waterfront views from three sides.
This bright yellow home exterior pops against the white molding, columns and gray roof. Typical of the Cape Cod style, dormer windows are painted the same yellow color. White columns add visual interest to the spacious front porch area, creating a classic American design. Lush landscaping and white front porch furniture add to the home's curb appeal.
The old, cracked driveway has been replaced with stamped concrete that looks like brick, coordinating well with the walkway leading to the porch. The driveway's dark gray border adds an accent that echoes the dark green window casings on the garage and house.
This Cape Cod home's outdoor areas incorporate lots of stately brick details, crisply contrasted by bright white. The driveway, seen here, uses the same paver-plus-grass layout as found in the backyard's patios.
Dare to dream with this Brentwood home designed by Jackson Paige Interiors, beginning with its exterior--a unique beauty in blue and white. Rustic wood siding painted in baby blue, immediately call to mind a seaside resort, where one can while away the hours reading, relaxing and enjoying the view. The outside of this home offers a sneak peak to the colors found inside, with blue and purple playing their parts throughout the space.
