Since Mother Nature has provided the artwork, the interior has been fitted with an abundance of wide, floor-to-ceiling windows throughout. Reclaimed wood, vaulted beamed and trussed ceilings and fine stonework highlight the superior architecture and construction.
From the hallway, guests can enjoy a glimpse of the living room and -- just beyond that -- the gorgeous lake views. Reclaimed wood beams and a stone accent wall bring in some natural texture and speak to the lake house's rustic location.
Natural wood with exposed joinery and a stunning wood accent wall pull from the forested setting and make this loft-like living space seem suspended in the trees. Windows in the space extend as high as 28 feet, while horizontal rails on the balcony and stairs echo the spindly lines of tree trunks and provide uninterrupted views.
This contemporary breezeway offers shelter from both the rain and the sun. Notice, too, how thoughtfully the space was designed, with slats that allow for natural light and stone siding that's as durable as it is elegant.
Designer Susan Brunstrum worked her magic on this great room wall underneath the grand staircase with interesting decorative items that serve to enhance her "mountain modern" theme. She selected a rustic-style console chest for small storage and surrounded it with eclectic knickknacks that add panache to an often-neglected space.
This hall features a curved balcony area and iron railing that allow people passing through a glimpse at the rustic great room. A circular red floral area rug adds a pop of color, while the vaulted ceilings and recessed lighting keep the space open.
