A fieldstone wall continues from the exterior of this contemporary California home to the interior foyer, literally bringing the outside in. The 24-inch walls are built from stones gathered on the site, embracing the home's wine country setting and fulfilling the owners' desire for indoor-outdoor living.
Contemporary, modern, Greek revival and victorian styles meet together to create a regal, eclectic home entry and foyer. The doors have an amazing impact, and feature softly arched top lines, wrought iron and glass to allow in the light. Another special element is the beautifully tiled floor in a circular pattern, which echoes the curved lines in the room.
In the foyer, an old hardwood floor was re-planed and repurposed to create an accent wall. A unique metal art wall hanging was custom created by Jimmy Don Holmes of JDH Iron Designs in Crawford, Texas. The piece was given to homeowner Bill Graham by Chip and Joanna as a tribute to his service to the country.
Connected to the living area and dining room, the foyer creates flow between the spaces with a soft, neutral color scheme. Modern art and funky light fixtures add both color and interest to the entryway.
Black-and-white wallpaper was a smart choice for the entryway as it adds subtle visual interest to the space without being too distracting. Meanwhile, a bright red sconce offers a pop of color that will appear throughout the interior.
This foyer delivers a stylish lesson on adding visual interest to a neutral space. So many intriguing shapes fill the room with movement, starting with the geometric pendant light all the way down to the animal skin rug.
Curved lines, circles and arches are repeated throughout this magnificent entryway. Stunning features of the space include the metallic gold, oval-shaped recess in the ceiling, which reflects a warm light from the lantern-style lamp; multi-level foyer and large, arched, wrought iron and glass door.
