By using a black and white color scheme for the walls, carpet and furnishings, this chic playroom lets the accessories bring in the color and character. Shelves with children's books brighten up one wall. On the other, a rainbow of magnets leap out from a chalkboard.
This sophisticated play room is one that the children in the family will love for years to come given its flexible (and so chic!) black and white palette and open layout. Thin wall shelves let favorite children's books become colorful decor.
The two-story entryway makes a dramatic statement with bright white walls, cool gray marble flooring and contrasting black staircase. Artwork is used throughout the home and an abstract sculpture adds a contemporary note to the space.
Working in the smallest space in the house, Carolyn Wilson and Elizabeth Boland of Design in a Day tore out an existing linen closet to create a second floor dressing room. Thibaut faux animal print wallpaper was applied to the walls, the ceiling was painted Farrow & Ball's Dayroom Yellow and a distinctive Abe Lincoln painting was hung to create a distinguished second floor foyer.
A floral print adds a fun, feminine touch to this entryway. Although the space is fairly small, designer Sarah Wittenbraker used a statement light fixture and stacks of books to pack the room with personality.
This contemporary entryway features a textured ebony accent wall featuring modern artwork, that provides stark contrast against the otherwise white walls. A metal and glass console table gives the area a unique edge, while a simple square wall mirror rounds out the overall look.
