In the beautiful master bedroom suite, one half of the room is a sleeping area, the second half a spa bathroom. The two spaces are separated by an airy black steel wall that ties in with the steel window and door frames.
The chandelier actually works overtime in this master bedroom, both brightening the space and calling attention to the reclaimed wood ceiling. Meanwhile, a sliding barn door creates a seamless transition to the bathroom.
Much like the rest of the house, this master bedroom looks bright and bohemian, with a wood canopy bed, matching nightstands and indigo-dyed pillows. Two small sconces cast a warm glow on the space at night.
Across from the four poster bed, a custom built-in houses the owners' flat screen TV and keeps their clothes organized. The front of the drawers were covered with mesh and matched with handsome brass and glass hardware.
In the center of the room, a four poster bed with soft sage linens invites the owners to relax after a long day at the office. A dark wood nightstand complements the piece and keeps evening essentials like books and glasses of water within reach.
There's a reason that this master bedroom feels so unique: its colors were inspired by an heirloom painting. With dark green walls, golden curtains and light furnishings, the space is at once moody and sleep-inducing.
This master bedroom is oh-so-soothing thanks to heather gray walls and crisp white bedding. Royal blue pillows complement the armchair in the corner, where the owners can switch on a table lamp and read into the evening.
When paired with crisp white linens and blue pillows, this wooden headboard looks especially coastal. On either side of the bed, floating nightstands give the owners a cool spot for their books and glasses of water.
The classic 1920s style bungalow still has many iconic architectural features even if some, like the fireplace, are no longer operational. The single shelf above is perfect for displaying a few of Nikia’s favorite works of art including an affirmation in simple words and a painting that bears a striking resemblance to a member of the family. Nearby, a banana leaf palm throws in a spot of natural color and a subtle homage to classic L.A. style.
Of all of the spaces in her home, Nikia needed her bedroom to be the most meditative and serene. Neutral and natural colors are the keys here, with blushing pink bedding from Coyuchi (https://www.coyuchi.com/) along with a pleasing combination of patterns from the wood, bedding and smooth glass tabletop. As Nikia explains it, the room, “ is a sacred place carved out of love and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the world. It is where I start my day, clear my head, and snuggle up to sleep.”
A shiplap accent wall in the master bedroom mimics an exterior fence original to this mid-century modern California house. The wall anchors a modern platform bed and reflects the rest of the home's mostly white paint palette. Earthy accent colors create a harmonious and zen space with a bohemian feel.
