A family of five needed a relaxed yet beautiful living space using items they already owned and wanted to incorporate into the overall design. Designer Sarah Wittenbraker created this stunning living room doing just that; she achieved a stylish, eclectic design by mixing furniture pieces of contrasting styles.
For a pair of young homeowners, the designer of this home wanted the dining room to feel playful, stylish and a bit more youthful. Putting a darker color on the ceiling, then painting the walls fresh white cozies up the space while maintaining an open feel. A few bold accents—like the leopard print curtains—add edge.
In front of a window partially covered by a shade and sage drape, an oversized cream-colored chair and ottoman sit, alongside a small side table with table lamp. Behind the chair, on the room's tan walls, hang three framed pictures of botanical prints.
This dining room features a rustic wood table surrounded by green metal chairs. Each place setting is marked with pretty botanical-patterned dishes. A candle stick and a floral centerpiece in a terracotta pot sit in the table's center.
Circular track lighting mimics the round couch configuration. A similarly-shaped loveseat faces the sofa, creating a conversational area perfect for entertaining. The kitchen with a breakfast bar opens up to the living space, allowing for views of the skyline and ocean.
An abstract rug brings style underfoot, while sleek yet comfortable furniture pairs with glass coffee tables and a chic bar. Glass French doors bring in natural light and overlook the California vineyard.
With the television being the focal point of this living room space, designers wanted to frame it elegantly as well as add some functionality to the bare wall around it, so custom shelves were built to surround it. Above the TV, open shelves display photographs and knick knacks that add a personal touch to the home, while below, open storage gives the homeowners a place to keep their books and movies within arm's reach.
This open plan living space boasts white tile floors illuminates by recessed lighting. A white leather sofa is positioned in front of a taupe accent wall, while a striped area rug provides a fun touch. Adjacent to the living room is a kitchen with white leather stools arranged at the island area.
Make the most of an awkward space by giving it function. As seen on HGTV's Design On a Dime, the slanted ceilings in this attic bedroom created a hideaway nook with no real purpose. By adding wall-to-wall shelves and a desk, the area was immediately turned into a private office. This new space adds value to the home and is a feature potential buyers are sure to remember.
A large simple chandelier brings additional lighting over the comfortable sofa in in this living space. A stained pallet coffee table compliments the rustic details of the staircase and connected kitchen. A splatter print rug adds color to the neutral tones of the design.
