The living room’s medium-tone prefinished engineered hardwood floor creates a warm and neutral backdrop for the space. “The best way to describe it would be greige,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn. “It’s kind of like a grayish beige mix.”
The play of lots of color in the living room is part of a design strategy that has color gradually grow as visitors enter the home, then move to the great room and eventually upstairs to the bold bedrooms with lots of personality.
Two-story custom-banded draperies frame the living room view of the pool on this refreshing southern estate. The homeowner's favorite colors of pale avocado and fuchsia pink are showcased throughout the room on unique upholstered furniture. Onyx-tiered side tables, a lacquered ebony coffee table and unique accessories complete this youthful, yet elegant look.
A low-slung sectional anchors this cozy living room on a soft, woven rug. Large windows with transoms offer beautiful scenic views, while the room's rustic wood accents and earthy color palette bring the outdoors in.
Both the living room and dining room have a softened color scheme with the ceilings and walls painted the same shade of green-gray and window trim painted in a similar tone. "The trim is actually two shades darker, but when you see them together, they look like they're the same," says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.
Color galore! The blues of the ocean and greens of grass make this eclectic kidtastic living room come alive. Vibrant modern art and boldly printed rug create a whimsical space. The comfy sofa is chock-full of patterned pillows that can change with the seasons.
Blue and green accents are a colorful extension of the living area's natural palette. The colors are used in other rooms as well and pair so prettily with the shiplap paneling and white oak beams. High ceilings help the space feel huge.
Galasso has somehow managed to make an 160-year-old home in Atlanta's Adair Park seem fresh and modern. "I love dark colors on the wall" says Galasso of this parlor in a rich forest green that beautifully contrasts with the white walls and molding in the main living room. Galasso says her two splurge items when it comes to home design are faucets and light fixtures.
Two identical plush sofas in a rich and regal shade of emerald green offer comfortable seating for visiting with guests, enjoying the cozy fireplace or the enticing outdoor views. The living room is now located where a small deck previously sat off the back of the home.
