The renovation allowed the designers to increase the functionality of the kitchen, add a peninsula for seating and give the clients a large, open pantry that they coveted. For the design, the clients wanted to marry rustic and modern elements to create their dream kitchen. By using a light wash on the floors, a farmhouse sink and a wood hood, they added just enough rustic charm while still maintaining an overall modern feel.
HGTV's Fixer Upper transformed a worn-out kitchen with Carrara marble countertops and a Moroccan tile backsplash. A farmhouse sink with its exposed front adds timeless character above gray painted cabinets.
This streamlined kitchen creates a dynamic play of vertical and horizontal lines. The narrow workspace and long counters are juxtaposed with the pendant lights, stained glass window frame and bars of the nearby door.
A modern, minimalist and midcentury-style kitchen with natural materials. The homeowner loves white and initially wanted an all-white kitchen. But because she feared that it would be hard to maintain with her two kids, she went with natural walnut cabinets instead, along with a few white cabinets and white countertops. “This way she would not have to feel as though her kitchen had to be in perfect condition,” says designer Kristianne Watts.
Either breakfast with family or an intimate dinner party are both at home in this in-kitchen dining nook. Adding to the space's appeal is a large yellow-and-blue modern art painting, and the room is crowned by a funky, brass-toned lighting fixture.
Check out this nook in a larger kitchen -- what a great spot for a family breakfast before a busy day. Comfy, blue, upholstered chairs sit around a white table, overlooked by a lovely piece of modern art.
The design team removed a wall to open up this California kitchen, revealing a ceiling-height window that ushers in loads of natural light. A modern island was added in the renovation and features a waterfall edge and shiplap detail. Four natural wood barstools allow for ample seating and tie in with the white oak cabinetry. Soaring ceilings support rustic-modern pendant lights that add to the room's organic vibe.
Brass hardware gives this white, streamlined kitchen a dose of warmth and classic style. The island features a top with a modern waterfall edge, and acrylic barstools all but disappear in the space. A nook off the kitchen serves as a compact home office.

The white, plank board vaulted accentuates the open and spacious design of this kitchen. A large island is topped with marble countertop and lined with red-brown leather bar chairs. A stainless steel cabinet brings a unique element to the room and matches the kitchen appliances. A herringbone hardwood floor brings an element of warmth to finish the bright room design.
This remodeled kitchen, featured on HGTV's original series, Brother Vs. Brother, includes a large cream-colored island that is paired elegantly with rattan and wood barstools. Red and yellow accents are a bright contrast to the otherwise neutral decor.
