The green walls of this family room offer the perfect backdrop for a family's favorite art work. Comfortable gray couches, ample throw pillows with mismatched patterns and colors and a rustic wooden coffee table enhance the room's cozy ambiance.
One of the early challenges of this design project for Naomi was to turning the living room into a family destination. Originally a very formal space, it was one of the least used areas of the home. Changing that required adding millwork to enhance the character of the room, complemented with a soothing neutral color palette and a few sophisticated touches of color for fun. Augmenting the leather sectional sofa, velvet side chairs in deep green add a welcome dose of fun to the home’s neutral aesthetic and more seating for the whole family to gather. Artistic touches in the metallic side table and overhead lighting fixture complete the space perfectly.
This design vignette in HGTV Dream Home 2013 commands attention for its thoughtful use of reclaimed materials and shiny surfaces. A floating shelf crafted by carpenter David Brown makes use of weathered, reclaimed fencing.
Beadboard walls, a rattan loveseat with washable cushions, hardwood flooring and child-sized furniture make this cottage-style space a durable playroom for kids and stylistically mature for adults. The dark wood armoire is perfect for hiding kid-related clutter.

Walls drenched in Sherwin-Williams' Pale Spearmint wake up this otherwise neutral kitchen. Metal barstools from Design Within Reach and industrial-style Tom Dixon pendants create pleasing contrast with the more traditional cabinetry and basketweave tile.
This cottage kitchen features a bold backsplash, decorative woodwork and a scalloped-shade pendant. The white farmhouse sink complements the white countertops amidst the seafoam green cabinetry and island.
The cozy front porch has a built-in ceiling heater for comfortable socializing on cool evenings. Lime-green walls create a fun vibe in the small space. Kelly green and hot-pink caps on the white columns add an extra touch of color. A white-cushioned loveseat fits snugly on the far end of the porch.
The interior color scheme of this modern home continues into the outdoor bar, where a mounted TV and ample seating turn the space into a cozy entertainment area. Wood on the ceiling adds warmth, while paneling painted in a deep teal establishes continuity throughout the home's design.
