The global beat is a big trend this year and is in full effect at the 2018 Southeastern Designer Showhouse and Gardens from Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. The splash of whimsy offered in this elephant accent table is especially compelling when placed next to delicate pastels.
Talk about exotic refinement. This master suite from Mathews Furniture + Design demonstrates the very cutting edge trend for blending feminine, jewel-tone details like this purple-accented Oriental rug and amethyst bowl with cheeky exotic touches like the ceramic elephant table, leopard pillows and Jungalow-worthy white palm accent to really rev up the drama.
Delicate pastels and bold gilt flourishes bring a Laduree-meets-new school attitude to this master suite bedroom from Mathews Furniture + Design. We are especially enamored of the artwork over the headboard, a classic Renaissance painting gone cheeky with the addition of a dramatic pink paint slash.
Candy colors and sherbet pinks, yellows and lilacs get a cooler treatment in this color-packed bedroom from Catherine M. Austin interior design. We love how she transformed a narrow hallway connecting a bedroom and bath with a punchy, sweet hydrangea purple balanced with a selection of well-curated contemporary art. Even the bold white etagere becomes an artsy statement piece when it’s piled with colorful art and design books to create a mini library/gallery space.
More floral wall coverings in a lilac that plays very well with spring-evocative greens and contemporary art keeps this bedroom from Catherine M. Austin Interior Design from registering as too saccharine and girly. The color scheme was inspired by Austin’s time spent in Italy in the spring and the purple wisteria she saw there. Think about using your travel photos for both design and color inspiration.
The formality of this cozy bedroom with its Thibaut through Duralee Chang Toile covering the walls and ceiling is balanced by a fun almost tie-dye rug says designer Jena Salmon. “When you do something so traditional, I think it really needs a punch of funk on it,” says Salmon of that statement rug.
Lots of ideas worth copying in this master bedroom from James Michael Howard. The artwork hung from thick brass chains are a new approach to displaying artwork and the mix of elegance and comfort in the heavy curtains hung at the bedroom entrance both soften and enunciate the room’s beautiful lines.
Textile designer, Khristian A. Howell, says, "Put your feet first. A dramatic and easy way to change things up in a room is by bringing in a great rug. Sheepskin rugs are so wonderful for the winter months. They feel wonderful under foot, and bring lots of warmth into the room, while keeping a light airy feeling."
Don’t let the lack of a guest bedroom cramp your hostess with the mostest style. With a little planning and a few thoughtful touches your couch-surfing weekend guests will feel totally pampered around the clock.
The homeowners wanted a luxurious master space for their elegant winter home that was layered in rich texture and metallics, but didn't take away from the open, calming view of the mountains and palm trees that surround the home. To appease these desires, designers wrapped the room in textured metallic grasscloth wallpaper and layered tonal fabrics that make the room rich with shine and depth.
This master bedroom is imbued with a warm ambiance thanks to an orange and gold color scheme. The room's primary colors are carried through in the bedding, window treatments, artwork and armchair. The bed has a silk-upholstered headboard with a silver-leaf frame, while a nearby built-in provides ample storage space.
To keep the beachy feel alive in this guest bedroom, designers painted the walls a lovely shade of blue that reflects the beauty of the ocean. To contrast the bright wall color, gray details were added to the room for a balance of warmth.
White bed linens with blue embellishments cover the decorative white bed frame. A blue and white striped chair highlights a bolder shade of blue to the color scheme. Pastel blue walls and light wood furniture finishes keep the room light and airy.
