What stunning colors! This modest, modern home is situated beautifully amidst the native trees and added lush lawn. The small but lovely deck is a perfect spot to sit and enjoy the sunset or a fire -- or both!
This dreamy backyard look is great for all ages. A wood stage-like set up between the two large trees connects to the stairs leading into the treetop patio. Lights strung between the trees give off a warm glow providing light for playing and enjoying the space.
The smooth neutral exterior design of this home is given a two-tone effect with an accent wood panel on the upper half of the house. Meeting the wood panel in the center of the wall is a small balcony. On the ground, a patio space creates a base for a cozy outdoor living room complete with fireplace. From the patio the space transitions to the open, bright backyard.
Around the perimeter of the back yard, a tall wood fence provides privacy from nearby neighbors. Petite pots with succulents make a flexible and low-maintenance centerpiece on the outdoor dining table.
This rocky, hillside back yard was transformed by licensed contractor Matt Blashaw and his crew. Upgrades included tiered landscaping, a covered dining area and an intimate sitting area next to a washtub firepit.
After the backyard makeover at DIY Network’s Yard Crashers, homeowners Brooke and Zach Taylor of Auburn, CA now have a lush and vibrant backyard for their entire family to enjoy- a stark contrast from the rocky hillside that took up much of their yard before! The transformation by licensed contractor Matt Blashaw and his crew includes a metal and wood pergola, hillside creek water feature, privacy screen with wood and metal, a Big Green Egg smoker and custom cart, and a firepit with seating. The fire pit sits on a raised platform with a rock wall boder. Two washtubs filled with rock form the fire pit itself which sets on a bed of decomposed granite. The pit is surrounded by custom metal privacy screens. (after)(detail)
A large vaulted pergola extends off the back of the house, sheltering a lounge area and an outdoor kitchen. The pergola's wood beams and high ceiling make the space have a light, open feel that transitions well into the rest of the yard.
This small-ish but gorgeous back yard has a little bit of everything -- a concrete patio area with Adirondak-style chairs, a tiered lawn and a wood deck in the background. Multiple flower beds -- plus potted plants and native trees -- ensure nature is the primary design element in the outdoor space.
