This bathroom was long and narrow, so the space needed to be opened up both functionally and visually, which was achieved by elevating everything off the floors. A black-and-white color palette with touches of gray keeps the design simple and clean, and dimension is added through a variety of textures—the marble subway tiles, mixed metals and using light grouting to juxtapose the black floor tiles.
As seen on season 1 of Sarah Sees Potential, Sarah transformed a dirty and cramped kitchen into a contemporary space fit for a chef. To achieve the look, she installed a gray subway tile backsplash, chic modern cabinets, vein cut floor tile and sleek stainless steel appliances. Sarah avoided the cost of relocating the home's heating system by blending the radiator in with the kitchen's white trim.
This timeless kitchen look features a chic pop of brass throughout the space. Red-brown island bar chairs draw the eye with a warm wash of color against the white and gray color scheme. A subway tile backsplash gives a marbled look to the wall beneath the range hood.
These light and bright living, dining and kitchen areas feature an open concept allowing for easy transition between spaces. White cabinets and a subway tile backsplash decorate the kitchen, while a metal strap globe chandelier hang over the dining table. Yellow pillows and an area rug accent the living room.
Glossy white upper cabinets contrast with oak lower cabinets for a cool modern look. The dark brown backsplash features 2" x 6" subway tile, adding some depth to the light and calm color scheme. A pair of contemporary pendant lights shake up the space with a bold and futuristic look.
Instead of using subway tile as a backsplash, the designers chose to paint a brick wall white. In turn, they achieved the same overall look, but with a little extra character and charm. When layered with a black range hood and sconces, the space feels clean and modern.
Soft contemporary updates with a sophisticated blend of brushed brass elements complete this white and gray eat-in kitchen. A large marble-topped kitchen island is positioned beneath three brass pendant lights and offers three upholstered barstools for enjoying a morning cup of coffee. Dark hardwood flooring gives the room depth and pairs nicely with all-white kitchen cabinets and subway tile backsplash.
Custom cabinets and a stainless steel vent hood top off this bright and lively chef's kitchen. Friends and family can gather around the painted island while the gourmet meal is being prepared. The walnut countertop and rattan barstools warm up the crisp white cabinetry and subway tile backsplash.
A cork floor displays a large light blue island with a polished gray countertop in this bright, contemporary kitchen. Shades of blue and yellow subway tile on the backsplash bring pops of extra color between the white upper cabinets and blue lower cabinets. Stainless steel appliances and chairs give a modern touch.
Modern elements are everywhere in this gleaming kitchen. White upper cabinets almost completely blend into the subway tiled walls, contrasting with the eye-catching navy blue lower cabinets. Open shelves offer storage and a place to showcase treasured dishware. Concrete counters and the brass sconce and pulls add to the modern coastal vibe.
A gray accent wall acts as a backdrop for the subway tile shaped headboard design. White bed linens are decorated with a chevron throw blanket and pillows with a finishing sheen. Low nightstands have matching table lamps framing the bed and black and white car art mounted on the wall. A sliding glass door reveals a view to the balcony and lets in bright, natural light.
A center island clad in a waterfall countertop houses deep drawers for extra kitchen storage. The dark island contrasts against the soft white cabinets and a subway tile backsplash, while glossy hardwood floors ground the kitchen. The entire space features an open floor plan that creates a family-friendly environment.
A focal point in the kitchen is the modern but retro-look slide in range in a vibrant teal. The color code of the range's finish was referenced to get an exact color match for the paint used for the lower cabinets. White marble countertops, subway tile backsplash and upper cabinets keeps the space light and airy.
A large center island creates an instant gathering spot for the whole family. The open floor plan kitchen used two colors to divide the space visually. All-white cabinets, countertops and a subway tile backsplash are used in the prep and dish-washing area, while dark gray cabinets, countertops and a granite backsplash make up the cooking area.
This coastal kitchen and dining area features a long wooden dining table under an iron light fixture. White-painted wood chairs with patterned blue cushions surround the table. Blue bar chairs with nailhead finish provide extra seating facing the adjoining kitchen, while a blue subway tile backsplash in the kitchen provides a bright splash of color against the white cabinets. A wood inlay floor ties both spaces together.
An unusual T-shaped kitchen island, which allows those perched on the stools to face each other, anchors this cottage-style kitchen. Deep blue subway tiles contrast with the cabinetry, a take on the classic nautical pairing of white and navy. A muted yellow wall color and warm-toned wood floors create an inviting charm throughout the space.
As seen on season one of Sarah Sees Potential, designer Sarah Richardson updated this century-old kitchen with stainless steel appliances, pretty subway tile backsplash and new custom white cabinetry. For a client who loves to cook, Sarah installed a gas stove with a large vent hood, double ovens, a wine fridge and a hidden dishwasher built into the cabinets.
Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines installed a natural wood support beam above the breakfast bar. All new white cabinets and black marble countertops bring a modern look to the kitchen, and two hanging globe light fixtures illuminate the breakfast bar. A new stainless steel range and vent hood is surrounded by a beveled subway tile backsplash to complete the stylish look.
