Casual and cute? That's a definite check for this townhouse near downtown Atlanta. Wanting to give her clients a space where they could unwind as a family, designer Robin LaMonte paired a sophisticated white sofa and two chairs with fun teal throw pillows and a comfy armchair. A large area rug keeps the floor soft for the family's dog, Daisy.
Wood details throughout this dining room enhance the country look and feel of the design. A set of white chairs alternates with a set of brown chairs around the long dining table. Detailed trim framing the doorway and windows echoes the detailing on the large wood china cabinet. A neutral rug complements the creamy walls and continues the theme of mixing dark and light.
A small kitchen niche doesn't have to be used as a breakfast nook. A pair of transitional print armchairs and a white side table create a comfortable sitting area for guests to relax in style in this kitchen nook. A deep purple rug is the key to the design as it anchors the space, defining it as separate from the rest of the kitchen.
For her shed, Sherrod went with a "desert sanctuary" theme. "I'm authentically drawn to the colors jade and coral, so I tied those in where possible," says Sherrod. "As an earthy, crunchy Scorpio, I am inspired by elements of nature, so you'll find cactus plants, live edge teak wood, white moonstones, selenite and quartz, a eucalyptus ladder, jute rug, kilim pillows and linen draperies."
For this guest bathroom, the homeowners wanted a space that would be friendly, have good storage and strike a coastal, casual vibe. Designers transformed a sofa table into a unique vanity and added built-in cabinets at the end of the room with fun chicken wire doors. A vintage green stool and blue-and-white striped dhurrie rug provide cheery pops of color.
In this boy's room, designers anchored the space in white walls and a marble floor to make the space feel larger, while an accent wall with geometric wallpaper brings a bit of fun to the space. To add a bit of personality in the space, designers brought in a green rug to give the feel of a soccer field, while a custom painting of a soccer player hangs on the wall.
Hot pink walls spread a diamond pattern throughout this colorful sitting room. A tufted purple bench with a circular design sits in the center of the room atop a leopard print rug. A green sofa rests against one wall, while a turquoise sofa fills a window nook on the opposite end of the room. A pair of black and white chairs completes the eclectic seating area.
The secret to a beautiful dining room is the lighting. The vintage crystal chandeliers in this dining room demand attention and create a sense of formal sophistication. To ensure the chandeliers are the focus of the room, the architectural elements and walls are painted in in neutrals and whites. A playful patterned rug invites the family to gather at the dining table and continue in the traditions of entertaining.
The front door, crafted from hemlock planks reclaimed from the interior of a 150-year-old home, complements the natural pine flooring and yellow birch panel ceiling in the HGTV Dream Home 2011. A white pendant light illuminates the space while black wood furniture and large accessories anchor the room. A gray floral patterned throw rug greets visitors to the home.
Large windows allow plenty of natural light into this Midcentury Modern living room. The light is reflected off the white walls and gray rug, making the space feel bright, warm and inviting. Designers then chose patterns and textures to add to the space, such as the teal and leopard print throw pillows and modern art pieces, that would make the space feel intimate without diminishing the outdoor views.
Open glass shelving showcases a fully stocked bar on one side of this basement entertainment room. A white tile backsplash runs under the shelving, and stainless steel chairs line the wood bar countertop. A step across the small hallway takes you into the playroom featuring built in-shelving for container storage. A green rug adds a pop of bright color and fun to the playspace.
As seen on season 1 of Sarah Sees Potential, designer Sarah Richardson transformed this once dated, drafty space into a cozy and contemporary retreat with plenty of room to entertain. Dark pink walls were painted a fresh white and covered in bright grasscloth wallpaper and a once over-imposing fireplace replaced with sleek white marble. To satisfy her clients' differing design tastes, Sarah incorporated vintage metallic decorative pieces with streamlined modern furniture. A large patterned rug ties the room together and adds warmth and interest to the new hardwood floors.
The kitchen is one of the home’s larger spaces and TaLaya and Kerrick took full advantage of the opportunity that afforded. A striped rug stands out against the modern, black cabinetry and plants are sprinkled throughout the kitchen for a touch of greenery. For a modern touch, white subway tile with gray grout creates a stunning kitchen backsplash.
This master bedroom was designed to be a relaxing retreat by using a monochromatic gray color scheme with small accents of teal and green. The crisp white bedding against the charcoal tufted velvet headboard creates contrast in the space, and the bed becomes the natural focal point. Above the bed a damask stencil was used in the accent colors to continue the pattern of the rug throughout the room.
A turquoise bed frame with strong blue notes is a fun and bold compliment to the green shade of the decorative armoire. A multicolor bed comforter and multicolor rug add an array of vivid color to further brighten the room. Sheer white curtains are finished with coral tassels matching the coral throw pillows topping the bed.
Nature takes a front seat in this living room. The pairing of floating wooden shelves next to the white trimmed fireplace and cream walls creates a beautiful palette in which plants and flowers can thrive. Polished with tons of character and fun, this sitting room offers a unique style. Red walls with mirror accents set the stage for this creative space. The color story is spread to the floor by red and black chairs that accompany a zebra print rug. Large white vases flank a versatile dresser that provides storage and charm, making this room perfect for just about anything.
StudioHue chose to apply a neutral background color--gray--to this little girl's nursery so that the room could be easily changed as she grows. The designers added highlight colors, shapes and fabrics to add interest, such as the white scalloped mobile over an oval crib, geometric shapes painted on the wall and a soft fur area rug atop the carpet.
