In this boy's room, designers anchored the space in white walls and a marble floor to make the space feel larger, while an accent wall with geometric wallpaper brings a bit of fun to the space. To add a bit of personality in the space, designers brought in a green rug to give the feel of a soccer field, while a custom painting of a soccer player hangs on the wall.
Designer Debbie Talianko designed this transitional living room with touches of the beach and sea, particularly in the soft greens and blues she chose to accent the room. The white sectional sofa and cream walls give the space an airy feel and allow pops of colors in the pillows, area rug and dining room upholstery to take center stage. Also noteworthy is the beach-themed art that punctuates the wall behind the sectional sofa.
As seen on HGTV's The High Low Project, a fur pillow beneath a clear coffee table adds texture to this contemporary living room. A dark yellow sofa with patterned blue and red throw pillows provides color against the white walls and gray rug. The flow of the living space was kept open to keep it from feeling crowded. Bar stools provide a space for dining as well as extra seating for guests
As seen on HGTV's hit show Love it or List it, this beautiful country chic living room includes muted tones of turquoise and white to compliment the tones of nature present in the artwork on the walls. The long row of windows brings in an abundance of natural light, while the floral rug and the fresh flowers help to further bring the outdoor into this comfortable living room.
Minimal furniture and ample natural lighting in this uniquely shaped living room give it a spacious and light feel. A neutral leather sofa blends beautifully with the white surrounding walls and neutral floor rug. A burnt orange chair cushion, built in wood shelving unit and hardwood flooring adds warm tones to the bright design. A tall, curved floor lamp and guitar pick shaped coffee table add shape to round out the look.
Acrylic casing holds chipped wood pieces, creating a unique top for this coffee table. The natural wood is a great textural addition to the contemporary surroundings. A blue rug with white spots grounds the space and coordinates with the blue velvet sofa. Hourglass-shaped stools with velvet seats line a bar next to the living area.
Sticking to only one time period can be a little dangerous when it comes to buying second-hand furniture. You may end up with a space that looks dated rather than curated. To pull together an eclectic look be willing to mix in your flea market finds with pieces that are new (or new-ish). This 70’s dining room table feels retro cool paired with crisp white resin chairs and super-saturated turquoise rug.
Fresh pink patterned drapery, a stunning wool Moroccan area rug and a modernized mantel make this living room a happy and elegant conversation space. Originally a colonial style mantel, the new look was achieved with drywall and beautiful bright white plaster, which reflects natural light into the room and creates a fresh and modern feel. Designers emphasized the area with a chocolate brown accent wall above. Flanking the mantel with matching cabinets brings balance and adds storage.
Mint green walls give a soft base to this living room and provides a beautiful complimentary color to the coral details. A coral chandelier with natural stick texture hangs between ceiling beams over the large tufted coffee table. A pair of armchairs echo the coral shade in their wavy striped pattern. A simple white sofa is brought to life with decorative throw pillows, and a large textured area rug covers the floor.
The formal dining room in this English cottage is outfitted in the traditional style. Rich, wood furniture is the highlight of the space, along with a traditional oriental rug and traditional artwork. To lighten the space and make it feel warmer, however, designers took advantage of the ample natural light spilling into the space from the French doors. By blending white walls and traditional furniture, designers have created an elegant, updated space that is both warm and inviting.
“It seems counterintuitive, but color and pattern chaos in my office motivates me,” says Sonal, who designs textiles. That explains the eclectic combination of woven baskets on the wall and layered rugs on the floor. The desk, with pyramid legs and a sleek glass top, has big-time presence. Adding to the glam mishmash: orange poufs from Surya, a blue-and-white ikat chair from Anthropologie, and curtains made with indigo-dyed fabric by Lewis & Sheron Textiles.
The designers wanted the wow factor in the foyer of this home, so they added an art piece in the ceiling to draw the eye upward and add texture and dimension. Suspended from the ceiling are white pendant lights that give the space a little bit of modern flair, while a green velvet bench resting beneath a unique wood framed mirror makes the space pop. To give some boundaries to the space, designers added a woven rug.
The dining room has a modern, tropical vibe. Midcentury modern Chinese wishbone chairs surround a white Saarinen tulip table. The green upholstery brings home a pop of color. The shade is echoed again in broad, leafy plants in the window. A zebra skin rug below the dining table enhances the dining area's global sensibility, giving the space the feeling of a faraway resort.
This neutral living space has plenty of seating for the homeowners to entertain family and friends. Reminiscent of a Romantic Era parlor, a grand piano occupies the rear corner of the room, creating an elegant ambiance, while large chaise lounges and comfortable modern chairs add seating for guests and homeowners alike. Finally, accents like the white and gray striped rug and the Asian inspired decor helps to finish the room and bring the design full circle.
Natural light from the bay window and light neutral walls make a bright atmosphere for this living room. A green and white houndstooth chair is decorated with a red pillow for a mix of bold colors and graphic patterns. A navy tufted coffee table is a solid buffer between the patterned chair and the multicolor, striped rug. A small natural wood end table brings a gorgeous rough finish to the refined design.
To create this nursery, designers first painted the walls a pewter gray color; then, they added birch tree and owl decals to make the space fun and decorative. Once the walls were painted, designers brought in an IKEA dresser and added hand-crafted owl drawer pulls to tie the dresser in to the design of the space. They also added a multicolor rug, a white crib and a modern rocking chair to complete the space.
The new living room at the Betsy home is brighter and more open. By opening and extending the new kitchen in the back, the living room is filled with a lot more light. A brighter colored paint, mixed with a new white ceiling, and white moldings, adds to the brightness and warmth of the room. The coffee table, sofa and rugs were provided by Ikea, and the many accessories were purchased at West Elm, Future Perfect, Ikea, and Brooklyn Flea. As seen on HGTV's "Cousins On Call".
Open to the kitchen, this newly remodeled family room, designed by Debbie Talianki, features upholstered armchairs in shades of cream with patterned pillows that blend with the nautical beach theme. A custom cocktail table and side table were designed for this home and a commissioned painting in pastel colors was hung next to the French doors. A custom Roman shade with remote control, area rug and white entertainment unit with cabinetry and bookshelves complete the room.
