This eclectic bedroom with low ceilings inspired designer SuzAnn Kletzien to make light, bright and expansive design choices, including hand-painted blue and white ombré walls and floral curtains. The space for nightstands was quite narrow, but Kletzien used hanging brass pendant lights to leave more open space for books, plants and accessories.
This contemporary living room features a large picture window, built-in bookshelf, mid-century modern end table, and gray wingback chair. The back of the bookshelf is painted dark gray to add depth and make the books and accessories stand out. A black and white striped curtain adds a cozy touch to the beautiful space.

A classic fireplace is highlighted by bright blue wallpaper, and the beadboard behind the built-ins is painted blue, allowing the accessories and books to really stand out. To integrate book storage into the family room, Esther had a 4' by 7' nook added to the wall behind the sofa. For richness, she opted to have the built-in stained in a medium brown tone rather than painting it white to match the trim.

The bookcases and columns, which were painted white to match to ceiling and trim of the home, divide the foyer from the living room. The size of the cubby space mirrors the sidelight cutouts above the front door for an interesting effect.
By picking up a small wooden dresser at a flea market, then removing its central drawers with a reciprocating saw, three open shelves were created for housing board games and books. To give the dresser an updated look, its exterior was sprayed with glossy coral paint, while the interior was sprayed matte white.

Houseplants lend to the natural element while a green glass bedside lamp helps illuminate the space and tie in the color scheme. A natural jute throw rug anchors the entire area.
