American white oak is used for the contemporary custom cabinetry in a light-filled industrial loft in New York City. The same 12-inch width was used for the floors and cabinets. The project by Desai Chia Architecture won a 2018 AIA Institute Honor Award for interior architecture.
A conversation starter doesn't have to be a piece of art. Designer Jamie Beckwith designed The Enigma Hardwood puzzle piece flooring to challenge the traditional wood-plank flooring. It comes in 16 different patterns with six unique stain choices for a custom look.
Quarter-sawn white oak lends this kitchen an updated modern-cabin feel. Tall banks of cabinets bookend the room and provide ample yet understated storage, and concrete countertops add a touch of rusticity.
The designers created a more open and inviting landing to the lower level of the home. A custom railing on the existing stairs allows light from the main floor to drift downstairs. Powder-coated metal pairs with a white oak handrail.
Designed for a brother and sister with very minimal, modernist sensibility, this bathroom layout makes it easy to be used by at least two people at the same time. Custom white oak cabinetry pairs with quartz countertops for a clean, fresh look. All doors on the cabinetry are automated.
High ceilings and modern, white tones make the galley kitchen in this Austin, TX urban home a place for gathering. With lots of recessed lighting, plenty of white oak cabinets for storage and a large marble island, guests won't have any trouble moving around the space preparing for a dinner party.
As seen on Home Town, the Walker's Laurel, MS existing dining room was cold and uninviting was a dark stain on the existing wood floor and a single door in the wall to access the wall paneled kitchen. After the renovations, their dining room now flows right into the large kitchen and features the original hardwood floor refinished, updated furnishings, a custom built white oak buffet table and a custom designed wallpaper wall that host Erin Napier hand drew and sent off to have the wallpaper created for the Walker residence.
After renovations, the home now features an updated larger French Country styled kitchen complete with new limestone countertops, stainless steel appliances, new wall and floor tile, distressed cabinet doors and a custom built white oak prep table built by host Ben Napier.
The end of the kitchen island is covered in the same hand-scraped solid White Oak planks as the refrigerator and freezer to complete the homeowners' request for something organic and unique. The planks are arranged in a chevron pattern to add a fun detail to the island and refrigerator and freezer. To offset the weight of the cantilevered countertop that extends from the island's base cabinets, brass poles were added to the outer corners of this piece. These brass poles match the brass fixtures in the rest of the kitchen, creating a continuous design throughout the space.
