The minimalist design of this modern bedroom is the perfect setting for the bold, blue Braille wall installation. A sphere chair and sleek work station make this a cool place to hang out for a teen boy.
A feature wall leads visitors to the spa-like hot tub, but not before leading them along a unique feature wall. Three stone "frames" are the home to glass and metal sconces which have both fire and light elements. Below the scones, water flows from tiny spouts into the pool, creating an audible element along the pathway to the relaxing spa.
The major focal points in the interior of Juice Served Here are the custom geometric wood installations. A large installation spans the back wall of the cafe, serving as a backdrop for the space, and another installation spices up the checkout counter.
Designer Angelica Henry selected this large silver art installation of spheres to grace the hallway and foyer of her client's home to introduce the minimalist approach she used throughout. It hangs spectacularly against a cream wall, adding depth and dimension while allowing the modern canvas painting on the opposite wall to hold equivalent prominence.
Designer Cecilie Starin repurposed spray paint cans used by muralist Ian Ross, whose work is displayed on the San Francisco Decorators Showcase 2015 dining room's walls. The cans serve as colorful art installations and can be easily moved around within the installations. The urban design is juxtaposed by a Louis XVI mirror hung over the black marble fireplace.
On episode seven of HGTV Design Star season six, contestant Mark is asked to make over a formal living and dining room for a young couple. Because the couple loves music, Mark creates a custom record installation. "The record wall...stunning," says judge Vern Yip.
When you want flexibility with your wall storage, the new Perch line from Urbio is a good solution. Designed to be modular, the vessels and wall plate in this wall organization system are magnetic and come in three- or five-piece starter kits that keep plants, kitchen utensils, art supplies and more within easy reach. The Perch line includes 3M Command Strips for easy installation and damage free removal, or stows for a more permanent placement.
A unique art installation featuring eight white globes adorned with gold paint takes center stage in this dining room. These pieces were arranged in a slanted line on a blank white wall behind the glass and metal dining table and teal dining chairs, all of which create a deliberate, stylized effect in the room. The floral centerpieces add an unexpected softness to the design.
Alex Ray, of Five Senses Art Consultancy, was inspired to illustrate a move away from technology back to the basics of communication through an installation of hand-cast bronze letters and ancient symbols, as seen at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014. An overhead view from the staircase shows the letters tumbling down a white wall where dark brown hardwood floors are accented by a yellow carpet runner.
Because it’s often an entertaining focal point, the style of the wet bar is particularly important. Says designer Robin Baron of this glamorous example: "Even a wet bar needs accessorizing. Textured walls along a sculptural and lit art installation create a great backdrop. Throw in a few key accessories that feel like they organically belong there, like decorative glasses and decanters, and you set the stage for fabulous entertaining."
The creative use of wall treatments and art installations in this modern dining room turns the area into a striking gallery. Everywhere you look — the silver accent wall, the light bulb pendant lights — there's something compelling to contemplate.
Inside the wet room, a sloped shower floor and linear drain system eliminates the need for a shower door, creating universal access and a feeling of openness. The plank tile is continued vertically up the rear shower wall, while the adjacent walls are tiled in iridescent white porcelain for maximum reflection of natural light. Because the window offers spectacular city skyline views, a curtain of beaded crystal is hung to create a permeable layer of privacy and to represent falling beads of water. The installation of a living orchids wall completes the experience of showering outdoors within the city.
This neutral bathroom area has an open shower that allows for easy transition between the main bathroom and vanity areas. Black fixtures, including an overhead rain shower head, are featured in the shower, complementing the contemporary metal wall-frame art installation that lines either side of the shower entrance.
This master bathroom remodel included the installation of a drop-in bathtub that was positioned in front of a natural stone accent wall. Neutral granite and dark brown wooden panels encase the bathtub, while a wall with a partial glass partition separates it from the walk-in shower area.
The timeline for the redesign of the room was six days, due mostly in part to the quick installation of the floor. FLOR carpet tiles were installed after the existing wall-to-wall carpet was removed along with its padding. All that was needed for installation was a utility knife with extra blades as well as an L-square.
