A custom 12-foot dining wood and aged iron dining table is surrounded by an elegant mix of upholstered seating, including an oversized pair of klismos-inspired chairs that bookend the table and give it visual weight. The cluster chandeliers and convex mirror emphasize the room's curves and connect with a crescent-shaped structural column that delineates the space.
Museums and galleries may display art against stark, white walls, but black can showcase favorite pieces even better. Case in point, this contemporary space designed by architect Bryant Alsop. “Walls and cabinetry in Dulux paints’ Domino color creates visual depth and provides a moody backdrop for the client’s artwork and furniture,” he says. “Extending almost the entire length of the house, the color provides a unifying element connecting each of the individual spaces.”
This contemporary kitchen is small in size but big on style. Simple lines and beautiful natural wood tones paired with modern pendant lighting create a clean, sleek look. A metallic backsplash adds visual interest while the frosted glass cabinets add warmth to the space. A small kitchen island and connecting modern table and bench make this space perfect for casual entertaining and dining. Colorful artwork on the far wall brings a touch of the tropics to this space.
To visually connect the HGTV Dream Home 2015 master suite, each room plays off of the colors and fabrics of the last space. “The bathroom ceiling and the hall and the master bathroom are the same color, and we used the same sisal in the bathroom as the rug in the hallway,” says interior designer Linda Woodrum. “There’s really a connection of feel and color palette. It’s very serene and peaceful, so you have the same experience in all rooms in this part of the house.”
