Formal Entry Into Woodland Garden
To ensure that their clients' home felt cohesive all around, the Deborah Cerbone Associates team continued those stone finishes into the backyard. Here, a stone wall with stairs creates a formal entry into the garden.
A stone fence meanders around a series of garden rooms in a Lake Forest, Ill., property, which is owned by a professional gardener and was featured on a tour by The Garden Conservancy. The garden has more than 60 varieties of woody plants alone and includes a formal lily pond and a shade garden, woodland garden, rain garden, working garden, vegetable garden and rose garden.
Climbing pink roses spill over a wood gazebo in this formal cottage garden, framing the entryway towards the shingled home. A simple rope fence intersects the garden and defines the entry garden from the large expanse of lawn framed by silvery lavender Russian sage.
A formal garden provides a grand entry to this stunning estate with classic architecture. The overall theme of the house is reflected in all the landscape and hardscape spaces throughout the expansive property.
Make a warm and welcoming statement near your entry with a classically styled garden bench. In addition to offering guests a spot to pause and take off their shoes, these also help tremendously for extra seating during formal or casual outdoor meals since the benches can easily pull up to one side of a table.
